SUMMARY

Provides services that enrich the lives of consumers with developmental disabilities. Under the supervision of the Program Manager and/or Team Lead. Will assist consumers with living skills development, medication administration, personal care, and behavioral development.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

Assists with living skill development and personal care needs of the consumers as directed and as outlined in the consumer’s individualized service plan (ISP). This may include the supervision and/or assistance of cooking, shopping, doing laundry, showering, feeding, dressing, toileting, and mobility (this may include lifting a consumer from a seated or lying down position) as indicated by the consumer’s need.

Assists in all active treatment programs as outlined in the ISP. Including assisting the consumer with their behavioral development by implementing approved behavior plans and physical techniques when necessary to protect the consumer and others.

Administers medications to consumers as directed by the facility’s Registered Nurse and as prescribed by the consumer’s physician.

Writes documents as assigned such as case notes, medication documentation, special incident reports, and emergency drill summaries.

Transports and accompanies consumers to recreational outings (ie movies, musicals, parks) and medical appointments using the agency van.

Assists the Program Manager or Team Lead with day-to-day household management duties: food preparation and cleanup, housekeeping, and laundry.

Under the guidance of the Program Manager or Team Lead, handles consumer funds and facility petty cash funds in accordance with facility policy and procedures.

Demonstrates a respectful attitude toward the consumers and allows them to have as much independence as their potential allows.

Attends meetings as directed by the Program Manager.

Supports the agency’s core values, mission, and vision.

Works collaboratively with co-workers, consumers

Maintains the highest professional and ethical standards at all times.

Perform other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

Must pass a DOJ/FBI criminal background clearance to obtain/maintain employment

High school diploma or GED is required. AA/AS degree a highly preferred.

1-2 years of experience working with the developmentally disabled, preferred.

Valid CA driver’s license and driving record acceptable to MLF’s insurance carrier

Must have current CPR certification (or obtain within 30 days of employment)

Must have current agency medication certification (or obtain within 30 days of employment)

Computer skills with MS Office, G-Suite or TherApp is a plus

Must have reliable transportation to occasionally travel

Excellent organizational and time management skills

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Must be able to regularly:

Lift and/or move up to 30 pounds (occasionally 50 pounds)

Stand; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and

Walk, kneel, crouch, or crawl (or jog/run occasionally)

Sit, climb or balance
