HME/DME Medical Biller

We are a medical supply company and would highly prefer someone who has experience in billing for HME, DME, and Part B billing. Seeking an organized and experienced Medical Biller in HME/DME/Part B to join our team who will be responsible for transferring patient and insurance information, and initiating payment processes and procedures. The ideal candidate will be well-versed with billing software, medical insurance regulations, and an expert at responding to patient and insurance inquiries, all while maintaining patient confidentiality in handling personal data information, and accurately inputting data into the billing system.

Responsibilities:

- Reviews and audits encounters for accuracy

- Maintains procedures for efficient and accurate processing of encounters in the billing department

- Posts remittance advices within a timely period

- Investigates and clears denied claims

- Resubmits denied claims

- Coordinates the paper flow related to billing and patient accounts, including but not limited to, the correlation of records and registration information, forwarding specific billing information to third party billing, and follow-up

- Monitors and reconciles third party insurance remittances and cash collections

- Responds to patient inquiries regarding billing questions or concerns

- Attends finance meetings and/or any other meetings, as needed

- Follow all regulations and guidelines set by Medicare, state programs, and HMO/PPO

Qualifications and Requirements:

- Bachelor's degree in accounting, health care administration, finance, business, or related field preferred

- Strong knowledge of ICD-10 codes and CPT codes

- Minimum of 1 year of experience as a medical biller in HME/DME/Medicare Part B billing process

- Able to multitask, prioritize, and manage time efficiently

- Self-motivated and self-directed; able to work without supervision

- Excellent verbal and written communication skills

- Proficient in computer skills, including Microsoft Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Excel)

- Strong customer service skills

- Comfortable and confident in answering both patient and insurance company questions

- Able to analyze problems and strategize for better solutions
