We are a family owned business that make the great majority of our products in house. We specialize in fresh baked daily pastries and bread, sandwiches and soups, and take away prepared foods and desserts. We use fresh and organic products when we are able and take pride in making simple food that tastes good.
Weekday hours for the cafe are 7:30am-6pm, and weekends are 8am-3pm. This position will typically work the hours of 11am-6pm on weekdays and 11am-4pm on weekends
Pay rates vary depending on experience but will be $16-18 per hour with this position eligible for tip pool as well (usually adds $2-$6/per hour to the base rate, depending on the week).
Partial company health care is available to full time employees after 90 days. We are closed most major holidays and we offer a professional work environment and thrive to encourage growth within the team.
Job duties will include, but are not limited to:
-accurately following recipes and production methods to make salads and sandwiches to Poppy Cake Standards
-working with co-workers to fill catering, special and holiday orders as needed
-maintaining a clean, efficient, and food safe work station
-properly labeling and merchandising all prepared foods for sale
-performing an accurate station inventory daily
-cleaning and organizing ones station throughout the shift and at the end of the day for closing
-customer service to include taking orders, answering the phones, cash handling, POS operation, etc.
Qualified candidates will possess the following:
-sense of urgency in completing assigned tasks
-some professional kitchen experience or culinary schooling
-ability to work independently and as part of a team
-knowledge of food safety and possessing a CA food handlers card
-reliable and punctual, also with reliable transportation (we are on the bus route)
