Host Job Description
Summary of Position:
Under the direction of the F&B Manager, the Host sets an exemplary standard for service quality. They provide timely, accurate, and friendly service to ensure the highest quality experience for our guests. Responsibilities include warmly greeting guests upon arrival, managing efficient and timely seating, answering phones promptly, and taking and packaging to-go orders.
Duties & Responsibilities:
Warmly greet and assist guests upon arrival extending a genuine welcome to the to the restaurant
Attend to guests’ needs promptly and courteously, including opening doors and providing accurate wait time estimates
Maintain an organized reservation/seating system, accurately recording guest names and party sizes
Notify guests when tables become available, addressing them by name and managing seating arrangements effectively
Provide guests with estimated wait times and accommodate special seating requests when possible
Communicate with servers and bussers to ensure smooth table turnover and exceptional service
Present menus to seated guests, informing them of their designated server and assisting with any inquiries
Inspect table setups to ensure cleanliness and proper presentation standards are met
Record reservations accurately and assist with phone inquiries and to-go orders as needed
Maintain a flexible schedule including evenings, weekends, and holidays to accommodate business needs
Possess the ability to communicate clearly and effectively, both verbally and in writing, in the predominant language(s) of our guests
Uphold high standards of personal grooming and hygiene adhering to company uniform requirements
Demonstrate honesty, integrity and reliability in all duties and interactions
Obtain and maintain a California Food Handlers Certification
Embrace a team-oriented mindset, contributing to a positive work environment and assisting colleagues as needed
Complete assigned side-work duties thoroughly and efficiently
Be able to work in a standing position for long periods of time (up to 8 hours).
Qualifications:
No previous restaurant experience required.
Preferred applicants will have a high school diploma or GED. Applicant must be 18 years or provide a work permit and maintain a 3.5 GPA if in high school
