JOB SUMMARY:

The line cook will assist in the culinary operation of Poppy + Rose. Your responsibilities include helping ensure guest satisfaction by cooking and preparing our from-scratch menu and assisting in production as needed. In addition, this job requires that the employee help keep the kitchen and other related areas organized, well-sanitized and clean.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES: ● Helps with overall food preparation at the restaurant ● Learns various cooking techniques and adheres to the designated cooking methods to ensure all menu items are consistently presented for maximum presentation and flavor. ● Strives to improve cooking skills and expands knowledge about food products and techniques. ● Assists with the cleaning, sanitation and organization of the kitchen, walk-in coolers and all storage areas. ● Performs additional responsibilities as requested by the Chef or Sous Chef. ● Ensures that food is properly stored. ● Participates in establishing and maintaining a calm, friendly and helpful atmosphere in the kitchen.

SKILLS and EXPERIENCE: ● 2-5 years of experience cooking in a professional, high-volume kitchen ● Good knife skills ● Professional communication skills required ● Food Handlers permit required ● Ability to take direction ●

Ability to work in a team environment ● Ability to work fast, effectively and stay focused under pressure ● Understanding of basic kitchen sanitation ● Must be able to perform repetitive tasks/ stand for long periods of time

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

Must be highly self-motivated, know how to keep busy, with good organizational and time management skills

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; be able to communicate clearly and consistently with peers and management

An understanding of food and beverage operations, including Health Department guidelines

REQUIRED EDUCATION, CERTIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:

2-5+ years experience in food and beverage industry

Servsafe certification required.

This job may require you to occasionally lift up to 55 pounds, frequently lift up to 15-30 pounds. You will frequently be standing for 6 or more hours a day and perform sustained, repetitive, manual and circular motion tasks with your hands and upper extremities on vertical and horizontal surfaces; This position may require repetitive operation of restaurant equipment and tools as well as occasional bending and squatting; You will occasionally be required to safely use cleaning chemicals; This position will include frequent interruptions during a work shift and requires employees to arrive to work on time and as scheduled.
