Are you a creative and experienced cake decorator with commercial kitchen experience? Hansen's Cakes at our Fairfax location is looking for an energetic, creative, and self-motivated individual that enjoys responding quickly to the needs of our customers.
Description of duties:
As an Experienced Cake Decorator, your primary duties will include decorating signature, custom cakes and all other baked items for our customers to enjoy. You will use freehand decorating skills as well as tools to prepare a variety of high-quality baked items. Execution of signature and custom cake orders with creative and complex decorating requests using buttercream and/or fondant. You will ensure that all products meet the highest quality, freshness, and food safety standards.
Job Responsibilities:
Build and decorate a wide variety of standard and custom cakes according to recipes and standard operating procedures
Make other desserts according to our standards
Safely and appropriately use tools, equipment and appliances to prepare baked foods
Clean and sanitize all equipment, work areas, containers and utensils to ensure health and safety requirements are met
Develop and maintain professional communication with all staff, customers
Must be innovative and decorative with new cake and cupcake flavors
Perform shifts, fulfill orders and complete production as scheduled on time.
Job Requirements:
Prior decorating experience is a must
Available for flexible scheduling to meet the needs of the business including weekends
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Ability to perform physical requirements of this position (see below)
Good interpersonal skills and ability to communicate effectively with other team members and leadership
Legally eligible to work in the US
Physical Requirements:
Frequent walking, kneeling, bending, and reaching overhead
Able to stand for extended periods of time
Must be able to lift, move and carry up to 50 pounds
Experience:
Cake Decorating: 5+ years
Must be able to safely utilize all bakery equipment
Attention to detail
Ability to work in cross functional roles as needed (front-of house; back-of-house)
Ability to adapt to a flexible schedule according to business needs
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: Based on experience
Schedule: Ability to work flexible hours from Tuesday through Sunday and holidays, as needed
Language Skills: Must be able to speak, read, and write English
License: Valid Food Handler Certificate (Required)
