Executive Sous Chef – Prose
Overview
Prose is looking for a highly skilled and motivated Executive Sous Chef to help lead our kitchen team. This role is integral to maintaining the smooth operation of our culinary program, ensuring that every dish reflects our commitment to quality, creativity, and consistency. The ideal candidate has strong leadership skills, a deep understanding of modern and classic techniques, and the ability to mentor and inspire the team.
Responsibilities
Work closely with the Executive Chef to oversee all kitchen operations, ensuring seamless execution of service.
Maintain the highest standards of food quality, consistency, and presentation.
Lead and develop the culinary team through training, mentorship, and hands-on guidance.
Assist in menu development, including seasonal specials and innovative dishes aligned with Prose’s vision.
Oversee inventory management, ordering, and cost control to optimize efficiency.
Implement and uphold food safety protocols, sanitation standards, and health department regulations.
Support coordination of banquet services, private dining, and special events.
Foster a collaborative and professional kitchen culture.
Requirements
Proven experience as an Executive Sous Chef or in a high-level kitchen leadership role.
Strong ability to manage and motivate a diverse team in a fast-paced, high-volume environment.
Expertise in food preparation techniques, kitchen operations, and cost management.
Experience with inventory control, vendor relations, and waste reduction strategies.
Understanding of dietary restrictions and alternative preparations is a plus.
Exceptional organizational and communication skills.
Food Handler’s Certification (ServSafe or equivalent) required.
