Formed nearly two decades ago, the 1933 Group helms a lauded portfolio of bars in Los Angeles. Each concept reflects bold, modern interpretations, reflective of the company’s dynamic partners and memorable eras. The Formosa Cafe first opened its doors in Los Angeles in 1939: making its new debut in its 80th year. Located across from the then-Samuel Goldwyn studio, stars like Frank Sinatra, Humphrey Bogart, James Dean, and Elvis Presley would pop into the legendary Formosa Cafe regularly for dining and drinks. We are looking for an Assistant General Manager to join the team at this historic location!

Reporting directly to General Manager, Supervisor to team of 40, AGM will oversee and coordinate the planning, organizing, training, and leadership necessary to achieve team’s expectations, guest satisfaction, employee retention, food and beverage quality and consistency, as well as overall restaurant cleanliness and sanitation.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

- Leading and motivating a staff of 40 hospitality professionals in a positive and mutually respectful team environment

- Development and implementation of Standard Operating Procedures

- Creative problem solving and troubleshooting

- Exemplify gracious hospitality, through communication skills and professionalism in all interactions with customers and staff.

- Recruiting, selecting, training, and coaching staff; communicating job expectations; Staff Scheduling in compliance with OSHA/Labor regulations

- Oversight of food and cocktail presentation; ensure that all products are consistently prepared and served according to company standards.

- Encouragement of staff efficiency, table presentation, lighting levels, music levels, overall environment.

- Maintains facilities and sanitation standards in compliance with health and legal regulations; maintaining facility security systems.

- Maintenance of all restaurant equipment

- Takes initiative in understanding local clientele and attracts regular clientele

- Controls purchases and inventory by working closely with the Executive Chef and Bar Manager

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

- 2+ years of management in high-volume environments

- Understanding of financials, ability to troubleshoot discrepancies

- Knowledge of California Labor Laws & Health Department rules and regulations

- Manager Food Handler Certifications or willingness to obtain by first date of employment

- General Marketing Knowledge

- Ability to maintain a non-conventional weekly schedule including Daytime, Nights, Weekends & Holidays.

- Must be able to stand 8-10 hours if necessary

- Must be able to lift 50 lbs

- Prior experience with Toast POS, OpenTable, Schedulefly, and Google Suite a plus
