DescriptionUnder supervision of the PI, the Staff Research Associate 1 provides technical support to the research group. Duties include optically clearing tissues, harvesting CNS tissue from the mice, handling and storage of the tissues appropriately, and performing immunohistochemistry experiments.Please note that this is a full-time 12-month limited positionand may convert to career.Salary Range: $25.75 - $30.71/HourlyQualificationsRequired:

Ability to work independently and follow through on assignments with direction on a daily basis.

Ability to keep accurate and organized laboratory records.

Analytical ability and good problem solving skills.

Ability to use PC and Macintosh computers.

Ability to use computer software such as Excel, Word, ImageJ.

Knowledge of basic laboratory procedures.

Good communication skills and ability to work well with others.

Ability to optically clear tissue.

Ability to learn new laboratory skills as needed.

Working knowledge of Immunohistochemistry techniques.

Knowledge of chemistry and skill in preparation of solutions for lab experiments.

Ability to maintain an organized work area.

General knowledge of University procedures for ordering laboratory supplies.

Interest working with rodents and rodent related research.

Ability to work on several projects simultaneously and to switch focus as needed.

Knowledge of cryostat use.

Willingness to work occasional overtime to meet deadlines related to grants and publications.

Preferred:

BS degree in Biology or related discipline.

Knowledge of confocal microscopy.

Working knowledge of University IRB policies and procedures.
