Position description

The Patel lab at UCLA is interested in the basic and translational mechanisms of treating glioblastoma. Dr. Patel is a neurosurgeon who operates on glioblastoma and uses those patient derived samples to grow and study infiltrating glioblastoma. The lab uses a cortical-organoid model, other patient derived culture lines including gliomaspheres, and patient derived mouse experiments. The Patel lab is a new, but successful and rapidly growing group looking for an individual with experience to provide a long-term partnership in the study of glioblastoma.We are searching for a highly motivated and independent individual to join a world-class community of neuroscientists at UCLA. Salary range is $64480-$77327.Duties and Responsibilities

Develop and execute an independent research project relevant to the lab’s focus

Mentor undergraduate student researchers

Analyze and interpret data

Prepare figures and manuscript

Present research at local, regional, and national meetings

Apply for fellowship awards

Required Qualifications

PhD in neuroscience, biology, biochemistry, or similar discipline

Established track record demonstrating ability to complete projects

Experience working with rodents

Competency with fluorescence microscopy

Willingness to learn and ability to function independently

Preferred Qualifications

Advanced experience in patient derived tumor models (craniotomies, stereotactic injections)

Advanced experience in culture

Previous first-author publication
