The apprentice will rotate through the outpatient adult and pediatric IBD multidisciplinary clinics, including the Nutrition & Integrative Subspecialty Clinic and Prehabilitation Clinics. The apprentice will also observe and lead counseling sessions, collaborate with the multidisciplinary team, join the team on bi-weekly inpatient rounds to discuss the nutrition needs of inpatients, present an IBD nutrition lecture for GI fellows, complete a research/quality improvement project, lead a nutrition journal club, attend the weekly IBD multidisciplinary conference, engage in community service, and more.
Learn about Medical Nutrition Therapy for adult and pediatric patients in the inpatient and outpatient settings
Design individualized nutrition plans to help restore and optimize nutrition
Demonstrate critical thinking and continued self-development in IBD nutrition care
Demonstrate responsibility for completing special projects and activities related to diet in IBD
Actively participates in the operations and clinical activities of the institution
QualificationsExperience :
Minimum six (6) months of clinical experience practicing as an RD (specific experience in IBD in NOT required)
Educational Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in Dietetics or Nutrition required.
M.S. in field related to job requirements preferred.
License/Certification Requirement’s:
Certification as Registered Dietitian by the Commission of Dietetic Registration required (or must obtain within 6 months of hire)
