Preschool Director
Job Description:
Under the direction of Kidz First Academy and Long Beach First Church of the Nazarene and the Administrator, the Preschool Director is responsible for the management, development, administration and supervision of the preschool in accordance with applicable statues and regulations under Title V, Title XXII and all agency policies and standards; train, supervise and evaluate the performance of assigned staff and be responsible for the programmatic compliance and the curriculum of the Early Childhood program for ages 2 through 5 which uses Christian principles and practices.
A thorough understanding of Child Development is required. The director will play a major role in developing, improving, expanding, facilitating and/or overseeing the implementation of the preschool program. The director manages staff and oversees daily operations. The develop the curriculum and ensure the school meets all standards set by the Christian faith.
Kidz First Academy Director will be responsible for the day-to-day and overall operations of the facility, ensuring compliance with local, state, and federal guidelines while supporting our mission to enhance learning and development for each child. He or she ensures the staffs provides the best possible learning and care experience for the children in our programs, oversees the curriculum, and markets the facility and our programs. The director and teachers must have knowledge of childcare management and early education and must have the business skills to manage the administrative, operational, and financial aspects of the facility.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Completes any reports or logs.
Make all staff meetings a priority.
Drafts outgoing correspondence (letters, e-mails, memos) and reports (charts, tables, graphs, etc.).
Manages inbound communication, such as phone calls and messages, e-mails, and letters in a timely manner.
Manages office or department calendar.
Manages office or department supplies within budget.
Coordinates questions and issues with the appropriate department personnel.
Implements changes in menus, if instructed to do so.
Maintains a professional personal appearance, attitude, and work behavior at all times.
Maintains office area to a high level of expectations.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Actively develops and maintains positive staff relationships and parent partnerships and manages all resources effectively.
Consistently implements the Kids First Academy Learning Plan to prepare and support teaching staff.
Effectively operates and manages all aspects of the school, including business management, education and continual learning and development, campus environment, and marketing and communications.
Ensures that teaching staff understands the components and supports the philosophy of Kidz First Academy.
Establishes and maintains respectful working relationships with state licensing authorities.
Conducts tours of the school and interact with children and parents about programs/curriculum and sign up to enroll children into school.
Oversees and ensures consistent implementation of the Balanced Learning System for all students enrolled at a Kidz First Academy.
Ensures that Kidz First Academy Policies and Procedures handbook are followed for a cohesive work environment.
Ensures that Kidz First Academy Policies and Procedures for transporting children are consistently followed.
Meets with Finance Manager bi-weekly to ensure budgets are in line with expectations.
Work intentionally to involve preschool in church events and the church into school events (Sunday Service Preschool Graduation, etc.).
Prior Preschool Director Experience is preferred but not required.
Must be conversant in and practice the Christian faith as well as in agreement with the Nazarene Denomination and Long Beach First Church of the Nazarene.
Required Education and Experience:
Education: Must be preschool director qualified, which includes all educational classes needed to fulfill the requirements to meet the states standards.
Experience: Previous experience would be a preference but not a requirement. Must have knowledge of administration, and operational services in early childhood educational organization.
Additional Requirements: A valid California driver’s license and CPR and other medical requirements deemed by the State of California.
Benefits:
Salary $40k - $50k depending upon experience.
