QUALIFIED ESL TEACHERS:

Embassy Summer is looking to hire experienced ESL teachers to work with international students on a university campus. A friendly and outgoing personality is very important! Overseas teaching experience and knowledge of a foreign language are preferable qualifications. We are accredited by ACCET and are a SEVIS-approved institution.

JOB PURPOSE:

The ESL Instructor is responsible for ensuring that students benefit from the academic program by providing the student with the necessary skills to become proficient in English through grammar, reading, writing, speaking and listening.

Plan and deliver ESL lessons to teens and children as young as 8 years old appropriate to a summer school environment from Beginner to Advanced levels (average ages are 13-17).

Ensure and maintain proper levels of student discipline, welfare and safety of all students during the program.

Assist the Center Academic Director in the testing and placement of new students in classes.

Ensure daily attendance reports, progress reports and end-of-course reports are submitted to the Center Academic Director promptly.

Attend and actively participate in all relevant staff meetings.

Ensure that classes start and finish on time and that all teaching sessions are adequately prepared.

Complete end-of-course reports and certificates for all students.

Submit detailed lesson plans to the Academic Manager at least one (1) week before a new arrival week starts.

QUALIFICATIONS & TRAININGS

Instructional staff must have at least: (1) a bachelor’s degree with a minimum of three months of full-time equivalent ESL or foreign language classroom teaching experience or (2) a bachelor’s degree along with a certificate in teaching ESL or a foreign language that includes a practice teaching component.

Native fluency in English

Effective communication (both written and verbal) skills.

Ability to demonstrate diplomacy, patience and flexibility.

Valid First Aid and/or CPR certificate (Desirable)

Experience with continuous enrollment courses and weekly intakes (Desirable)

ALs lead our students on all off-campus and on-campus activities to ensure their well-being and enjoyment.

POSITION DESCRIPTION:

Lead and supervise course participants during off-site and on-campus activities and trips, mealtimes, and bedtimes at the center. This role involves significant walking on guided tours, the transport of sports equipment from the center to sports fields, and setting up furniture for indoor activities. Furthermore, additional responsibilities include:

Promoting and safeguarding the welfare of students for who you are responsible and with whom you come into contact.

Ensuring that activities and excursions operate to the highest standards of relevant Health & Safety and safeguarding practices.

Managing and instructing during onsite activities sessions which enable the development of students’ life skills.

Managing and leading offsite excursions which enable the development of students’ life skills.

Maximizing student and group leader satisfaction by ensuring their experience meets or exceeds their expectations.
