About The Math Yogis

themathyogis.com

The pandemic was challenging for everyone in education. As a result, math education, heavily reliant on in-person classroom interactions, suffered significantly. Prior to the pandemic, achieving positive outcomes on a large scale was not the norm. Factors like instruction, culture, and data all play crucial roles. However, intervening with math skills is imperative for equity. Students should not be punished due to factors beyond their control in their math education.

In this regard, high-dosage tutoring becomes a "must" rather than a mere nicety, especially when students are not meeting the required standards. The Math Yogis leverage research, years of experience in schools, and a proven design methodology to craft a small-group tutoring experience that accelerates student learning. Starting in the 2023-24 school year, The Math Yogis will offer a limited number of schools partnerships for high-dosage tutoring to schools during the "crunch time" period leading up to state testing. Beginning in 2024-25, year-round in-person tutoring will be available for schools.

Role Summary

Math tutors will support the core instructional day for schools. Tutors will work with groups of one to eight students on previously learned or new topics with the goal of students achieving grade-level proficiency. Tutors will receive training and coaching on instructional best practices and are expected to implement them when working with students.
