Job Description

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Preschool French Leader Teacher is responsible for the management and supervision of children between the ages of 2 and 5. The incumbent must possess the physical ability to lead and interact in activities and games with children, monitor behavior requiring separation and participate in curriculum activities and housekeeping responsibilities. Provides excellent customer service to students' parents and communicates with them on a routine and daily basis.

He/she is responsible to assist the Director in planning, organizing, implementing, coordinating, and managing services of the childcare program, exercising independent judgment and decision-making authority as delegated and in the absence of the Director, including policies, procedures, and staff supervision. Under general supervision of the Director, Responsibilities include assisting the Director in the overall management of the center’s early childhood program and its operation, facilitating, planning and coordinating of the children's educational programs and activities.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Leader in planning and preparation of the creative learning environment and preparation of needed materials and supplies using a variety of resources.

Supervise and lead the activity areas (all weather conditions) and actively engages in activities with children.

Provide leadership and direction in a school setting

Documents children's experiences and maintain accurate attendance records, observations and reporting on an ongoing basis

Encourage the children to participate in all activities.

Demonstrates an understanding of the developmental needs of pre-school age children and provides personal attention to all children.

Deeply understands how to implement different approaches to learning as it fits each individualchild

Performs student and parent evaluations.

Provide support and is available as a resource to other staff members in need of assistance (i.e. lesson plans, staff in-services, duty schedules, etc).

Attendance at all staff meetings and trainings.

Understands the importance of time-management throughout the flow of each day

Maintain current CPR and First Aid certifications.

Ensure the safety, health and welfare of all children by good hygiene methods, closely monitoring children and environment, preventing any accidents/injuries and taking immediate action to get aid if necessary.

Will be in charge to make sure Staff follows CDC and Licensing Recommendations and School Guidelines following Covid-19 situation.

DAILY FUNCTIONS:

1. Collaborate with the center director to maintain the day to day operations of the center

2. Fill in as Substitute Director as needed

3. Plan, develop, schedule, and/or provide in-service training and evaluation of child care staff.

4. Maintain accurate records on children enrolled in the program to include their development, attendance.

5. Prepare reports to Child Protection Services and other agencies to ensure the safety and well-being of all children.

6. Confer with parents on a regular basis to discuss the development of their enrolled children and in particular during Parents-Teachers Conferences

7. Maintain and determine needs for child care supplies and equipment.

8. Assist child care center staff in preparing for and presenting early childhood programs and activities; direct the organization and follow-up of special activities such as off-campus field trips; assist as necessary with duties of instructional assistants.

11. Assist with problems encountered by staff for resolution.

12 . Assist in the preparation of Staff Meetings and make sure that guidelines are being followed by staff throughout the School Year.

13. Will be reporting to all the staff different instructions and directives given by the Director and will be in charge of taking notes at all meetings.

14. Assist in the development of appropriate curriculum activities which comply with Title 22, Title V

15. Attends weekly team meetings with Head of School

16. Helps with the annual completion Environment Rating Scale for the designated classroom, following ECERS guidelines

17. Adheres to state licensing health and safety regulations

18. Must respond well to unusual or crisis situations

18. Performs miscellaneous additional tasks, duties, responsibilities and activities as assigned or needed thay may change at anytime with or without notice

QUALIFICATIONS:

Minimum 18 years of age.

. Must be Native French Speaker

Very strong oral and written communication skills

Must have clearance through fingerprinting,criminal records and child abuse index background investigation.

Attend Mandated Reporter AB1207 online class.

Must be HS graduate or possess GED, 12 units in Early Childhood Development courses plus minimum 2 years teaching experience.

Must have physician's clearance and current TB test.

Must obtain CPR and First Aid certifications within 90 days of hire.

Experience working with children in an organized setting.

Must have visual and auditory abilities to respond to critical incidents and the physical ability to act immediately in emergency situations.

Must attend the 8 hours of Preventive Health and Safety Training

Must attend the Child Care Center Record Keeping Orientation, n°2

Hours:

8:15 AM - 5:15 PM (Must be flexible; hours can vary depending on Director's schedule.) Preschool is a year-round school. (Age range: 2-5)

Salary/Benefits:

Salary commensurate on experience for teachers/substitute Director $25-29 per hour, Paid vacation, 10 Paid Holidays and 3 sick Days annually, Organic Fresh Meal offered.
