- Understand and 'map' the universe of applications (on premise, SaaS) that support operations
- Gather, review and enhance existing systems documentation
- Clearly identify inter-system dependencies and points of integration
- Create a data dictionary and illuminate the flow of data between systems
- For key systems, become an in-house "expert" on features and capabilities, and how they are deployed and used . Help understand (triage) users requests and issues.
- For new initiatives:
- interview stakeholders to generate and document requirements
- determine feasibility
- facilitate approval (when necessary)
- work with technical resources to identify and plan implementation
- Develop test scripts (human or automated); conduct testing activities and orchestrate participation by others (UAT)
- help team(s) prepare for ongoing operational activity, including documentation
- In all cases, identify opportunities for automation of system deployment, integrations with other systems and general operations
- Participate in agile team backlog grooming, sprint planning efforts for technical operations teams on an ongoing basis
- Perform testing of new systems, upgrades and patching of existing systems; plan, conduct and document results of testing.
- Identify sources of data for reporting and work with technical teams to make data available, especially in support of business operations analysis and reporting efforts
- Knowledge of computer system capabilities, business processes, and workflows
- Experience with enterprise applications and understanding of database-driven applications.
- Strong understanding of the software development life cycle.
- Knowledge of Agile principles and techniques, including scrum and kanban methods for managing work
- Current knowledge of rapidly changing strategies for the use of information systems and services in business
- Skill in conducting interviews and facilitating group meetings.
- Skill in developing and conducting training programs.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, including the ability to bridge functional and technical resources by communicating effectively with individuals of varying systems expertise and business needs.
- Strong listening, negotiation and conflict resolution skills.
- Ability to design and document complex business systems.
- Proven problem solving and analytical thinking and the ability to approach problems logically and systematically.
- Creates test plans, data, procedures, and manual or automated scripts
- Participates in formal reviews of business requirements and design specifications.
- Ensures proper test coverage exists based on requirements and design specifications.
- Writes and re-produces accurate software problem defects/reports.
- Creates systems and business test cases.
- Executes manual and/or automated scripts.
- Coordinates test schedules, work, and resource plans; manages the progress of all test activities against the plan.
- Identifies and manages critical path of testing.
- Identifies test issues and reports to Manager, PM and/or business.
- Performs risk analysis at project management or release level.
- Provides estimates for testing deliverables.
- Ability to develop or lead the development of manual and/or automated test frameworks, standards, training, etc.
- Excellent communication, both verbal and written.
- Ability to work within a team and work independently.
- 4+ years testing web, server or mobile applications
- 2+ years of experience working with end-to-end application development life-cycle.
