Lab Technician C

Pay Range: $18.50 to $21.80 per hourThe Lab Technician C is a general lab support position that supports high volume sample processing that will require a high degree of accuracy and efficiency.  The position would support Animal Health and Food Microbiology in areas of sample receipt, log-in, and processing.ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:Receive, prepare, and set-up samples for analysisEnter data, choose analyses, log and approve samples using a LIMS databaseProcess and maintain client samples at correct temperaturesAssist with shipping of customer supplies including return coolers to customersSafely operate an autoclave to sterilize media, reagents, and suppliesMaintain an accurate inventory of prepared mediaEnsure proper labeling, handling, storage, use, and disposal of media, reagents, and solutionsInventory and report expendable supplies/materials needed for testing requirementsPerform quality control monitoring by taking incubator temperaturesMaintain laboratory condition, to include equipment, supplies, quality assurance programs, and accurate records throughout all proceduresIdentify process difficulties and report these together with proposed solutions to supervisor.Prepare samples for indicator organisms and pathogensApply aseptic/microbiological techniques in daily workloadPrepare and maintain media and reagents as needed for daily microbiological testing.Performing serial dilutions, plating, and handling of bacterial culturesProperly operate laboratory equipment to dispense, pump and measure media and solutionsProvide routine preventive maintenance by daily cleaning, sanitizing, trash disposal and equipment quality controlPerform all activities in a neat, safe, hygienic, and efficient mannerResponsible for the completion of required technical and safety trainingMaintain cooperative working relationshipsAccurately perform and read test results and notify Laboratory Management of deviationsFiling submission forms and performing other duties as assigned by the supervisorOther duties as assigned
