VCA PetPoint Medical Center practices conventional medical and holistic care and embraces the fear free philosophy.We are searching for a detail oriented Veterinary Assistant that is passionate about client education and client service.The ideal candidate would have the following qualities:Must be positive, take initiative, be a team player, able to mulit-task, punctual, adaptable to change, accountable, willing to help and train in other departments, have strong communication skills, be professional and caring when dealing with patients/clients, and maintain a professional appearance and attitude.Duties (including but not limited to): Customer service functions, including: greeting visitors, answering telephones, and guiding clients and their pets to exam rooms. Scheduling and confirming appointments and taking messages. Placing outbound calls for follow-ups and reaching out to prospective clients. Presenting and explaining fees, including processing payments. Recommending, selecting, and obtaining products and services, including prescriptions. Answering questions regarding products and services, including educating clients on general animal husbandry and non-medical pet care (i.e., heartworm prevention, housebreaking, and flea & tick control). Managing medical records, charts, reports and correspondence. Hospital maintenance / light cleaning (including removal of animal waste) and ensuring that facility is neat and clean at all times—both inside and outside.· Make clients and their pets feel comfortable and welcome.· Perform TPR and take medical history from clients.· Able to gently handle, lift and restrain all sizes and species of patients.· Provide information and education to clients about services offered.· Be able to sit, stand, walk, and lift for extended periods of time throughout shift.· Take medical notes during examinations as directed by the Veterinarian.Qualifications and Skills· Excellent customer service skills.· Excellent communication skills.Benefits· Scrubs are provided· Discount on veterinary servicesHourly Rate: $17.00 - $20.00 per hour (based on experience)If you are a current associate, you need to apply through our internal career site.
