Our company is seeking an experienced Lien Negotiator/Collector who is highly motivated, personable, and has excellent phone etiquette. The ideal candidate must be comfortable making outbound calls throughout the day to insurance companies and defense firms. A background in workers’ compensation is essential, as this role involves managing and collecting outstanding balances while adhering to workers’ compensation guidelines and processes.
Junior Collector Responsibilities:
Conduct in-house collections with a strong understanding of EOBs, DORs, Minutes of Hearings, and Compromise & Release agreements.
Negotiate and collect lien balances on patient files.
Verify insurance information and process incoming correspondence or requests.
Sort and file incoming mail.
Check EAMS for upcoming hearings and maintain the monthly hearing calendar.
Skills & Requirements:
Strong and professional communication skills when dealing with Adjusters, Applicant & Defense Attorneys, and Doctor’s Offices.
Knowledge of RVS/OMFS, ACOEM guidelines, EAMS, EDEX, Hearing Calendars, Lien Filing, and LC 5402.
Ability to work independently, make sound judgment decisions, and collaborate effectively within a team.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel) and internet research.
Bilingual skills are a plus.
Qualifications:
Minimum of 1-2 years of experience in Workers’ Compensation & Medical Collections.
Strong negotiation and problem-solving skills.
Proven ability to efficiently negotiate, settle, and collect outstanding liens while maximizing reimbursement through proper fee scheduling.
Highly organized, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple cases simultaneously.
