In-Home Dementia Caregiver

Seeking a In-Home Dementia Caregiver who is a compassionate and dedicated individual to provide personalized loving care to my mom with dementia in her home.

Responsibilities include being a compassionate companionship with daily living activities in their home including, personal care living with dementia, assisting with daily living activities like bathing, dressing, meal preparation, eating/drinking reminders, medication administration, taking vitals, recording vitals, mobility, grocery shopping, pharmacy pick up, doctor appointments, transportation, etc. While actively monitoring for safety concerns, maintaining a safe environment, managing challenging behaviors, and offering emotional support, all while adhering to a personalized care plan and collaborating with family members and healthcare professionals.

Prior experience with dementia care is strongly preferred. Preferably someone that is 25-45 year of age. Flexible scheduling available. Client service location is in Rancho Cucamonga. Part time hours needed. Filling in will be needed at times when another caregiver will be absent.

Payment is made through In-Home Supportive Services (IHSS). Becoming a provider would require a Livescan and quick orientation class at the County of San Bernardino. If interested please contact Krista.

Key Responsibilities:

Personal Care:
Assist with bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, and eating, adapting routines to meet the individual's changing needs.


Medication Management:
Administer medications as prescribed, monitoring for side effects and ensuring proper dosage compliance.


Cognitive Stimulation:
Engage the client in meaningful activities to maintain cognitive function.


Behavioral Support:
Manage challenging behaviors associated with dementia, utilizing positive redirection techniques and maintaining a calm demeanor.


Safety Supervision:
Monitor the client's environment to prevent accidents and ensure their safety, including fall prevention strategies. Observing for changes in client's health status and reporting any concerns promptly.


Communication and Support:
Accurately maintain vital and medication logs. Have an open communication with the client, family members, and healthcare team, providing updates on the client's condition and needs.

Transportation: Driving clients to medical appointments, errands, and social events.


Meal Preparation:
Prepare nutritious meals according to dietary restrictions and assist with feeding as needed.


Light Housekeeping:
Perform basic household tasks related to the client's care, such as laundry, dishes and tidying up.


Required Skills and Qualifications:

Experience:
Prior experience working with individuals living with dementia is preferred.Familiar with blood pressure, gate, diabetes, suprapubic catheter, pressure wounds (aka bed sores), ADA equipment is also be preferred.


Certification:
Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA), Home Health Aide (HHA) certification or similar certification or experience is a plus.

Ability to work independently and follow instructions

Valid driver's license and clean driving record.


Compassionate Attitude:
Ability to demonstrate empathy, patience, and understanding towards individuals with dementia.


Effective Communication:
Excellent verbal and written communication skills to interact effectively with family members, and healthcare professionals.


Physical Ability:
Ability to assist with personal care tasks that may require physical assistance.


Adaptability:
Flexibility to adjust to changing needs and situations, including managing unexpected behaviors.
