RAND is a nonprofit institution that helps improve policy and decision-making through research and analysis.

The RAND Survey Research Group (SRG) is currently hiring part-time Bilingual English/Spanish Field Interviewers to work on a two-stage randomized trial for patients with an opioid related event.

Work will take place in San Bernardino.

This is a part-time, temporary adjunct position without benefits, 20-35 hours per week. Project period is September 2024 to May 2026. Work will take place in San Bernardino.

Field interviewers will work in the Emergency Department at Arrowhead Regional Medical Center (ARMC)’s waiting room administering screeners to patients, and if eligible, administering the full consent followed by a tablet-based interview. Field interviewers will receive extensive paid training on project protocols. Pay range is $23.00 to $25.00 per hour.

Requirements:

Speak, read, and write fluently in English and Spanish

Have a valid driver’s license, dependable car, and proof of auto insurance

Be able to complete and pass Live Scan background check and health screening including providing proof of immunizations (or titer blood test) as required for work in San Bernardino County hospitals

Available to work 20-35 hours per week primarily during regular weekday hospital hours (mornings and afternoons); some flexibility for evenings and weekends also a plus

Comfortable working in a hospital setting

Able to stand and walk throughout the workday

Strong interpersonal and communication skills

Motivated, self-starter, comfortable working independently and on a team

Exceptional time-management, organizational and record keeping skills

Strong intermediate computer skills

Follow safety procedures and local and state guidelines related to COVID-19

Preferred Qualifications:

Prior field survey research, interviewing, health care or other related professional experience is highly preferred

Training:

Mandatory paid training will take place at RAND’s Santa Monica office in late September 2024, dates TBD. Continued employment is contingent upon passing RAND employment background check including DMV and successful completion of training.
