Structural Design Drafter

Key Responsibilities Will Include:

Create and modify 2D drawings and 3D models for components, assemblies, and systems using AutoCAD and SolidWorks. This includes preparing general arrangement, manufacturing and installation drawings.

Interpret engineering sketches, specifications, and other design inputs to develop accurate drawings and documentation.

Collaborate with engineers, designers, and production teams to ensure design accuracy and feasibility.

Maintain drawing and design documentation according to company standards.

Revise and update existing drawings reflecting design changes and improvements.

Perform tolerance analyses, material selections, and basic calculations when needed.

Assist in developing bills of materials (BOMs) and manufacturing documentation.

Ensure designs comply with applicable industry and safety standards.

Participate in design reviews and contribute to problem-solving discussions.

Internal Company communication with, project managers, engineering, purchasing and production

External communication with clients and vendors

Coordinating the development and approval of all projects specific design documents i.e. calculations, drawings, specifications, equipment and instrument lists.

Coordinating all required design reviews, validations and developing test protocols.

Coordinating the performance and approval of technical bid evaluations and approval of vendor data, as required

Update project coordination software (TeamWorks)

Update project progress checklist

Inspect first articles and finished products in production

Performing quality control checks on items ordered and fabricated.

Work with sub-contractors to ensure design requirements are followed

Prepare operations and maintenance manuals

Skills and Experience required:

Minimum 5 years’ experience in AutoCAD/Solid Works Drafting, General Layout of equipment, and Bill of Materials

Bachelor’s Degree in Civil or Structural Engineering, CAD or related field

Proficient in MS Word, Excel and Outlook

An excellent grasp of engineering and design principles and an awareness of the environmental impact of design ideas

Ability to work independently and in a team environment

Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills

An appreciation for business demands and an understanding of manufacturing processes

Excellent communication skills, both verbally and written
