Rescue Dog Adoption Coordinator

Do you love big dogs? Are you ready to make a lasting impact in the lives of our adoptable animals? You should have have strong customer service skills and enjoy speaking with members of the public to place large breed dogs into permanent, loving and responsible homes. You will also be involved in the rescue and care of the dogs. To understand each dog's adoption needs, you will have to work very closely with them. Deep knowledge of the dogs at the ranch and their various attributes are important to know.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

Interact with adoptable dogs and learn about their characteristics, behavior, and temperament to identify their adoption needs

Review adoption inquiries and applications and respond within 24 hours

Schedule adoption appointments and meet with potential adopters

Show dogs available for adoption in an educational and informative manner, seeking to make logical and lasting matches by utilizing the animals’ behavioral characteristics and physical needs as well as the potential adopter’s profile information.

Counsel visitors on safe behaviors when meeting adoptable dogs to ensure a positive experience for all and to prevent avoidable incidents

Be able to work with a diverse customer base – listening to and communicating with various personality types to work towards positive adoption outcomes for the animals as well as the people

Actively make suggestions for more appropriate animals to adopters who may be looking at an animal that doesn’t quite fit their experience level or home – rather than simply saying no.

Make additions to our website as new dogs are brought up for adoption – including photos and bios. Also removing dogs from our website in a timely fashion as they are adopted.

Maintain a positive, educational approach with a willingness to listen when dealing with the public, the staff and volunteers.

Prepare adoption packets including appropriate dog vaccination, alteration and microchip records and distribute to adopters

MUST be available to work weekends. Typical schedule is Friday- Tuesday 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
