Job Title: Entry Level Gardener/Landscaper

Hours: 8am-5pm (40hrs/week with possible OT)

Compensation: $16 - $19/hr., DOE.

Salary option after four months employment and 401K benefits after one-year employment.

Reports To: Immediate site supervisor

Position Summary

With direct supervision of immediate supervisor or manager, the applicant is expected to perform the

following duties with all safety precautions, accuracy, in a timely manner, and is responsible for

following directions. Complete general maintenance of the gardens, landscapes, lawns, and installations

at numerous properties Sempervirens Gardening acquires.

Duties and Responsibilities

This outline provides a comprehensive, but not limited to, list of tasks and duties for the Entry Level

Gardener/Landscaper position.

 Able to stand for extended periods, bend, squat and lift or pull up to 50 pounds

 Perform the following tasks: cultivate, dig, and fork mulch and/or soil, water, rake, weed, edge,

prune, bed preparation, plant, basic maintenance such as: cut grass, prune plants & clean up

 Operate mowers, trimmers, and leaf blowers; may operate heavier equipment once trained

 Report equipment malfunctions to management when noticed

 Ensure all equipment and machinery is stored securely, with care, and clean after use

 Return tools to their designated area, and maintain tools and storage space clean and tidy

 Keep pedestrian areas free of hazards

 Participate in required trainings and meetings

 Other duties as assigned

In order to operate power equipment, the applicant must show both proficiency and safety

operation practices.

Jobs may require the following personal equipment; sharp hand pruners, knee pads, safety glasses,

leather and nitrile coated gloves. The applicant is responsible for providing such personal equipment.

Sempervirens Gardening can supply the personal equipment for the following fees: sharp hand pruners

($80), knee pads ($25), safety glasses ($5), leather gloves ($20); nitrile coated gloves ($5). If the

applicant fails to comply, the company may lend the equipment for a deposit of the above price per item.

The deposit covers lost, stolen or broken equipment if that is the case.

Minimum Qualifications

Be self-motivated, enthusiastic, fit and capable of heavy work. Be ready to work in all weather

conditions, with some experience with power tools. Have a friendly personality with great interpersonal

skills. Lastly, be knowledgeable of plants, be organized and able to follow and adapt to the schedule, as

well as follow oral and written instruction as directed.

Preferred Qualifications

High School or equivalent diploma, driver’s license and a clean driving record. One-two years’

experience. Have a sound knowledge in use of horticultural and landscape maintenance machinery is an

added advantage.
