Job Title: Project Manager

Pay: Full-Time Hourly; $22-$25/hr depending on experience

Job Summary: We are seeking an experienced and results-driven Project Manager with a background in environmental sciences to join our agricultural compliance company. As a Project Manager, you will be responsible for overseeing and managing various client projects from initiation to completion. You will collaborate with team members to ensure project objectives are met, and deliver high-quality results within specified timeframes. The ideal candidate is self-reliant, possesses excellent communication and organizational skills, and is comfortable multi-tasking in a fast-paced, client-focused environment.

Responsibilities:

1. Project Planning and Execution:

○ Work with clients on developing project scope, goals, deliverables, and setting reasonable timelines.

○ Define project tasks, resource requirements, and conduct independent research to ensure compliance goals are being met.

○ Report on project progress, identify and address potential risks and issues, and implement corrective actions as needed.

○ Ensure project milestones are met, and deliverables are completed according to client and regulatory requirements.

○ Conduct site visits to remote farms throughout Humboldt County to inspect and document farm progress, assess project implementation, and ensure compliance with regulatory standards.

2. Stakeholder Management:

○ Establish and maintain strong relationships with clients, understanding their needs and expectations.

○ Serve as the primary point of contact for clients, addressing inquiries, providing project updates, and managing expectations.

○ Foster collaboration with vendors, third-party providers, and local and state agencies to build strong partnerships and maintain open communication.

○ Coordinate documentation and reporting of client interactions, feedback, and decisions to ensure accurate records are maintained and can be referenced for future project phases.

○ Proactively address challenges to ensure all stakeholders align efforts, keeping client projects on track and achieving desired outcomes.

3. Project Documentation and Reporting:

○ Create and maintain project documentation, including cultivation plans, executive summaries, inspection responses, project completion reports, as well as agency requests.

○ Provide invoices and ensure billing is properly addressed prior to project completion.

○ Submit detailed reports and data through government and other agency portals on a regular basis to ensure compliance and meet regulatory requirements.

○ Track and document project progress, updates, and milestones to provide comprehensive status reports for stakeholders and clients.

○ Compile and organize records for audits or inspections, ensuring all documentation meets regulatory and internal standards.

4. Quality Assurance and Risk Management:

○ Ensure project deliverables meet the highest standards of quality and surpass client expectations when possible.

○ Identify and assess project issues, develop mitigation strategies, and recommend solutions throughout the project lifecycle.

○ Proactively identify and address potential project roadblocks, seeking appropriate resolutions to keep projects on track.

○ Participate in training sessions or workshops to enhance team awareness of quality standards and risk mitigation practices.

5. Team Leadership and Development:

○ Support owner in fostering a collaborative and high-performing work environment.

○ Proactively volunteer for tasks and responsibilities where possible, to help ensure optimal resource allocation and utilization.

○ Provide guidance and support to less experienced team members, facilitating their professional growth and development.

○ Apply out-of-the-box thinking and conduct investigative research to uncover innovative solutions, anticipate potential risks, and improve overall project outcomes.

○ Accurately assess and communicate workload capacity and bandwidth to ensure realistic expectations, prevent overloading, and maintain project efficiency.

Requirements:

● Bachelor's degree in business administration, environmental studies, or a related field; project or program manager experience is a plus.

● Strong understanding of project management methodologies, tools, and techniques.

● Ability to travel to client farms for audits and assessments.

● Excellent organizational and time management skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.

● Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport and effectively collaborate with clients, team members, and agencies.

● Strong appetite for independent research and learning of new ideas and concepts.

● A self-motivated, goal-oriented drive with sharp decision-making abilities, and a focus on delivering results.

● Solid analytical and problem-solving skills, with a keen attention to detail.

Preferred:

● Proven work experience as a Project Manager in a consulting or professional services environment.

● Knowledge of the California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA) implementation in land use permitting and the reporting software used: CERS.

● Affinity for technology software tools, including any prior experience with Humboldt GIS, Adobe Illustrator, Accela, and/or EPIMs.
