Job Title: Intermediate Gardener/Landscaper
Hours: 8am-5pm (40hrs/week with possible OT)
Compensation: $20.25 - $22/hr., DOE
401K benefits after six months of continuous employment.

Position Summary
With direct supervision of immediate supervisor, the applicant is expected to perform the following duties with all safety precautions, accuracy, in a timely manner, and is responsible for following directions. Complete general maintenance of the gardens, plants, and lawns, and installations at the various properties Sempervirens Gardening tends.
Duties and Responsibilities
This outline provides a comprehensive, but not limited to, list of tasks and duties for the Intermediate Level Gardener/Landscaper position.
Take initiative at work by stepping in to lead a team and be a mentor to other members of the team, tackle challenges and solve problems in a leadership role
Build rapport with clients/customers, team members, and Vendors
Maintain professionalism with team members and clients, report any concerns, and resolve issues that may occur
Teach and guide the duties of the Entry Level gardener/landscaper
Assist in the training of new crew members by being an exceptional role model
Occasionally drive company vehicles and trailers, and report any mechanical issues
Be at the office 10-15 min. earlier than the rest of the crew to organize needed tools and run safety protocols on equipment
Able to work independently, in alignment with given instructions
Able to stand for extended periods, bend, squat and lift or pull up to 50 pounds
Perform the following tasks: cultivate, dig, and fork mulch and/or soil, water, rake, weed, edge, prune, seed sow, bed preparation, plant, basic maintenance such as: cut grass, empty bins
Operate lawnmower, trimmer, leaf blower, chainsaw, trencher, skid steer, and thatcher as needed
Report any equipment malfunctions to management upon noticing them (e.g., power tools, heavy machinery, vehicles)
Ensure all equipment and machinery is stored securely, with care, and clean after use
Return tools to their designated area, and maintain tools and storage space clean and tidy
Keep pedestrian areas free of hazards
Participate in required trainings and meetings
Other duties as assigned
In order to operate power equipment, company vehicles, and trailers, the applicant must show both proficiency and safety operation practices.
Minimum Qualifications
Be self-motivated, enthusiastic, fit and capable of heavy work. Be ready to work in all weather conditions. Have a friendly personality with great interpersonal skills. Lastly, be knowledgeable of plants, be organized and able to follow and adapt to the schedule, as well as follow oral and written instruction as directed.
Preferred Qualifications
High school or equivalent diploma. Have a valid CA drivers license and clean driving record. You MUST have prior one year experience working with plants outdoors in a garden setting or a similar role. Experience should include, but is not limited to the following: pruning, shearing, planting, digging, raking, dividing, fertilizing and weeding. Experience with drip irrigation systems is a plus. Sound knowledge in use of horticultural machinery is an added advantage.
