McKinleyville Community Services District is looking for an energetic self-starter interested in serving the community through the creation and coordination of Environmental Programs within the District. It is an exciting time to join the MCSD team as the recently acquired 599-acre McKinleyville Community Forest is being developed as a public resource.
Description of Role: Under general supervision of the Parks & Recreation Director, the Environmental Programs Coordinator will oversee the administration, conservation, and management of the McKinleyville Community Forest and other open space environments within the District, for recreation, ecological health, and community engagement activities. This role will be responsible for the facilitation and coordination of advisory committee and subcommittee meetings, managing and obtaining grants, and coordinating conservation, recreational, volunteer, and educational programs and efforts; and other administrative tasks assigned by the Parks & Recreation Director. In addition, the individual will act as a MCSD liaison to the public.
Hours: This is a full-time position. Schedule may include some evenings and weekends.
Salary: $3,962 to $5,423 per month plus generous benefits including retirement.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with a major in natural resource management, environmental science, forestry, biology, or a closely related field.
Knowledge, training and/or experience in one or more of the following areas:
Land/Natural Resource management,
Forestry and conservation principles and practices
Grant writing, grant administration and stakeholder engagement
Strong organizational, communication, self-starting and project management skills
Experience working with the public.
Possession of current and valid Driver’s license
