Aplica ya

Humboldt Bay Municipal Water District (HBMWD) provides drinking water to over 90,000 residents of Humboldt County. We accomplish this through our facilities in both Humboldt and Trinity Counties including: Ruth Lake Reservoir and the associated dam, the hydro-electric plant at the dam, multiple water diversion facilities adjacent to the Mad River, a turbidity reduction facility, and miles of pipelines to our municipal customers around the Humboldt Bay area.

We are seeking a qualified professional to join our high energy Eureka office in our new Associate Engineer position.

This new position will manage projects, performing increasingly difficult engineering computations and analysis to support the District’s overall business and operational functions. This position will also manage the District’s regulatory permits, reporting, and related analysis. While there are three levels within the HBMWD engineering series (Junior, Assistant, and Associate (P.E.)), the District is seeking applications for the Associate Engineer position only. For additional details, please see the job description on the District’s website at hbmwd.com.

The Associate Engineer (P.E.) position is the journey level class in the District’s staff engineering series and requires a bachelor’s degree in an engineering field as well as multiple years of professional engineering work experience, some of which directly relate to working for a municipal water agency. Candidates in this position must possess a current certificate of registration as a Professional Engineer (P.E) in the State of California.

This position is responsible for ensuring completion of all permit applications, regulatory reports, and safety documentation along with analytical studies regarding water supply, infrastructure financing, and other technical matters. Individuals in this position are expected to learn and be fully aware of all the District’s regulatory obligations. Once established, employees at this level are expected to need only occasional instruction or assistance as new requirements arise.

Candidates must possess strong written and verbal communication skills as well as competency in developing spreadsheets, databases, and other analytical tools. The ability to meet tight timelines, work under pressure and multi-task is must! We are looking for a highly motivated, self-starter that knows how to collaborate with a diverse team.

The Associate Engineer position includes a salary range from $112,158 to $136,332 (five-steps) and also includes a very competitive benefits package.

Deadline to submit application is September 2, 2025, at 5:00 pm. Employment applications are available online at www.hbmwd.com or at the District Main Office (828 7th Street, Eureka). Please provide a cover letter and resume with your completed application. Please email completed application to: [email protected], you will receive a notification indicating receipt.

Candidates will be required to complete several skills tests as part of the interview process. A pre-employment physical and drug screen are required. Candidates must possess valid California driver’s license.
