JOB TITLE: Senior Accountant

REPORTS TO: Enterprise Controller

DEPARTMENT: Finance

LOCATION: 101 Taylor Way Blue Lake, CA 95525

STATUS: Non-Exempt; 40 hours per week

POSITION SUMMARY

The Senior Accountant will be responsible for making/ensuring the completeness and accuracy of journal entries to ledger accounts and reconciling various Balance Sheet and Income Statement Accounts with subsidiary ledger accounts and outside statements. Assist in maintaining financial records and ensuring that financial transactions are properly recorded. The Senior Accountant will assist in compiling financial data and reports to aid the Controller in the preparation of financial statements and other financial reports.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Create month-end and other journal entries.

2. Performs general ledger account reconciliations, verify accuracy of data, and report, identify, and correct errors.

3. Review the work of other team members as delegated by the Controller

4. Support timely monthly, quarterly, half-year, and year-end financial close, including assigned journal entries, balance sheet account reconciliations, accruals, and overall maintenance of all operational management accounts.

5. Assists in providing schedules and commentary with respects to operating maintenance accounts results and variances.

6. Assist in preparation of timely invoices for sales and management of accounts receivable.

7. Assist in preparation of biweekly payroll and related reports and reconciliations.

8. Maintain and update records and reports relating to taxes, liabilities, and assets

9. Assist in maintenance of the fixed asset records

10. Assist in maintenance of inventory, reconciliations and accurate recording of product costing

11. Prepare special financial reports as requested by management by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing account information and trends.

12. Assist with compliance of federal, state, and local financial requirements by studying existing and new legislation.

13. Assist in maintaining vendor and sales contract files

14. Verify contract terms are adhered to.

15. Maintain, implement, and adhere to internal controls/separation of duties and that accounting procedures comply with GAAP/ GASB.

16. Manage intercompany billings, transactions, and reconciliation.

17. Ad hoc reporting and performing special projects upon request.

18. Prepare monthly financial close workbooks to support the month end, quarter end and year end closing process.

19. Manage reconciliation, depreciation, and fixed asset ledgers.

20. Assist in the audit process by coordinating and communicating with the auditors

21. Other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

1. A Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in finance, accounting, or related field or an equivalent combination of education/experience

2. 3 years’ experience in accounting is required.

3. Experience in working with a Tribe is preferred.

4. Accounting software experience needed, QuickBooks online preferred

5. Must have strong organizational and multi-tasking skills.

6. Must be able to work well with others or alone, under minimal supervision.

7. Strong computer experience required. 10-key by touch. Typing ability of 50 wpm.

8. Willing to learn Paskenta Band of Nomlaki Indians structure, standards, procedures and protocols.

9. Must have ability to relate and communicate effectively with others.

10. Must have a Valid California driver’s license and proof of personal liability automobile insurance as required by California state law.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

Work is performed in an office setting. The noise level in the work environment is usually low to moderate. This job routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, telephones, photocopiers, and fax machines.
