SUMMARY

In the mid-level accounting specialist class, employees perform responsible accounting related work in general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and payroll.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Input and maintain general ledger.

Processes accounts payable.

Processes accounts receivable.

Performs monthly posting of rents and charges.

Monitors, maintains, and adjusts tenant ledgers.

Reconciles and adjusts bank accounts. Investigates and resolves overages and shorts.

Establishes and maintains accounts, reconciles accounts, researches discrepancies, and adjusts accounts for programs.

Prepares payroll reports required by the state and federal government.

As Payroll Officer, adjusts and prepares payroll bimonthly, records and compiles leave time.

Assists in developing accounting and internal control policies and procedures for: procurement, personnel, rent collection, and eviction.

Provides data and assistance in the preparation and revision of budgets and does periodic budget to actual analyses.

Knowledge of:

Generally Accepted Accounting Procedures.

Principles and practices of bookkeeping.

Basic practices of purchasing and payroll.

Practices and procedures of accounts payable and receivable.

HUD programs and Federal rules related to accounting.

CA Housing rules.

IRS, State and Federal rules related to payroll and benefits.

PCs and related software.

Training co-workers.
