Today SpaceX is actively developing the technologies to make this possible, with the ultimate goal of enabling human life on Mars.SUPERVISOR, NDE OPERATIONS (PRECISION TUBING)This position will report directly to the NDE Operations Manager within the NDE department at Hawthorne, California. This position will act as a split shift, responsible for the Precision Tubing NDE team, which is responsible for the inspection of critical plumbing for the Merlin engines and Falcon boosters. The NDE function is organized within focused production area cells alongside the production activities by utilizing multiple and varied inspection methods to efficiently provide quality control and protect product reliability.As the NDE Supervisor at SpaceX, you will be required to interface across the business. The job function will require emphasizing a “quality first” culture with the team while performing hands-on inspection, troubleshooting, and managing inspectors during day-to-day NDE activities. The Supervisor will interact with technical and operations leaders within Production.The candidate should possess strong leadership, structured control and data driven performance management, and soft skills to influence and persuade. An eye for detail and the ability to work within complex teams to reach companywide goals are key attributes for a successful supervisor.RESPONSIBILITIES:

Schedule and prioritize work-flow management

Act as the interface between the team and relevant production partners

Collaborate with the engineering and Level III teams to support inspection requirements

Manage inspector career development planning and certification training to meet inspection needs in the work center

Assist in personnel hiring and sourcing recommendations

Manage maintenance planning and scheduling for equipment and facilities

Prioritize and increase inspection quality by deploying lean strategies, 5S, Kaizen and data driven metric development

Ensure team maintains proficiency by using inspection methods, automated systems, and tooling for the work center

Assist in the introduction of technological change

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

High school diploma or equivalency certificate

2+ years of prior leadership experience within a manufacturing environment, either leading teams, projects, or people

PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

Demonstrated strong organizational, communication, and leadership skills while managing multiple priorities

2+ years of NDE experience with a Level II or Level III certification in line with ASNT TC-1A or NAS 410 or DOD guidance

5+ years of aerospace experience

Knowledge of NASA 5009 standards

Knowledge of AMS, AWS/ASME, ASTM

Knowledge and understanding of NAS 410 standards

Problem solving tools and techniques: ex. 5 whys, failure mode and effects analysis, root cause analysis

Knowledge and experience in lean manufacturing principles such as 5S, Kaizen, continuous improvement, and/or DMAIC

Basic computer skills with Microsoft Suite

Experience in working with fracture critical products and parts

Excellent knowledge and understanding of aerospace materials, manufacturing processes, assemblies, technique specific systems

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

Able to lift 25 lbs. unassisted, bend, stretch, stand for extended periods of time, climb stairs, reach, twist

Willing to work extended hours and weekends

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS: Pay range: NDE Supervisor: $110,000.00 - $145,000.00/per year Your actual level and base salary will be determined on a case-by-case basis and may vary based on the following considerations: job-related knowledge and skills, education, and experience.Base salary is just one part of your total rewards package at SpaceX.
