Chapman Law Group A.P.C. is a dynamic and expanding law firm in Marin County specializing in civil litigation and real estate law. We are committed to providing exceptional legal services and fostering strong relationships with our clients.

Position Overview:

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented law student to join our team to assist with a complex and potentially high-profile litigation matter. The ideal candidate will primarily work alongside the firm’s Senior Paralegal under the direct supervision of the lead attorney, engaging in a variety of legal research, writing, and administrative tasks. This internship presents an excellent opportunity for law students to gain hands-on experience preparing motions, and conducting discovery. The position entails extensive legal research, and an occasional in-depth analysis of niche legal topics that are infrequently explored, necessitating investigations into under-researched areas of law. This is a remote position and requires a computer and internet.

Case Overview:

The matter involves intricate issues related to real estate fraud and serious financial abuse against a protected class citizen. The case encompasses five other intricate matters stemming from the same events, albeit with unrelated issues. Given the challenges posed by our client’s situation—an elder suffering from a cognitive brain disorder with limited recollection of events over the past decade—we are dedicated to pursuing justice on their behalf. As we prepare to file our Complaint in Southern California, we anticipate a significant influx of paperwork and are looking for a committed law student passionate about advocating for the rights of protected class citizens.

Proposal:

The internship provides the student with the option of a flexible schedule, and a pay rate of $20.00 per hour. The assignments will provide students with the opportunity to develop the skills necessary for gathering evidence, the knowledge of the available resources that are utilized for building a strong case, hands on experience with preparing motions and discovery, as well as exposure to a diverse range of legal issues and practices. To be considered as a potential candidate for the paid internship, the student must be able to commit to a minimum of 20 weeks beginning 11/04/24, and dedicate at least 15-20 hours a week to the assignments. The Application Deadline for the internship is October 25, 2024.

Key Responsibilities:

Conduct legal research and analysis to support ongoing cases.

Draft legal documents, including briefs, motions, and correspondence.

Assist with propounding and responding to discovery and the issuance of subpoenas on third-parties.

Collaborate with attorneys on case strategy and development.

Perform administrative duties to support the legal team.

Qualifications:

Currently enrolled in an accredited law school.

Strong research and writing skills.

Excellent organizational and time-management abilities.

Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and legal research platforms.

Strong attention to detail and commitment to confidentiality.

Excellent organizational and time-management abilities.

At least one year of full-time law school experience or equivalent.

If you are passionate about the law and eager to learn, please submit your resume and cover letter with the subject line "Internship".
