E-Z Way Driving School is a well-respected and popular Drivers Ed/Drivers Training school that has been serving the beautiful foothill areas of Nevada and Placer Counties in Northern California for over 35 years.
We now have an opening for a part-time driving instructor in the Auburn area. Previous experience as a driving instructor is certainly welcomed but not necessary to apply, as we provide newly accepted applicants with the CA DMV required training needed to obtain their Driving Instructor’s License.
If you have good communication skills and the ability to give instructions clearly, have patience when working with teens and the ability to stay calm and focused in potentially stressful situations, are attentive and detailed oriented, then this could be just the ticket!
In order to provide affordable services to our customers, benefits are limited to sick leave, so this is a great opportunity to earn supplemental income for someone who enjoys working with teens, possibly a retiree with benefits or has spousal benefits, enjoys engaging with their community and feels they can make the roadways safer for everyone.
We provide our instructors with specially equipped company cars and offer flexible days and hours, with an hourly wage as well as discretionary bonuses. We pay for all gas and associated business expenses and provide auto liability insurance for our employees and students while using our vehicles during lessons.
WHAT YOU NEED TO APPLY:
Be at least 21 years of age (DMV requirement)
A valid California driver's license and a clean driving record
Must pass a DOJ background check/Live scan fingerprint
Basic computer skills, internet access and a cell phone
High School Diploma or GED Certificate or higher
Must be available 3 days a week, 3 lessons per day, preferably with occasional Saturdays (Sundays optional)
A commitment to the CA DMV and State of California requirements to become a Certified Driving Instructor
DMV REQUIREMENTS :
20 hours observing with a licensed driving instructor & student on Behind The Wheel driving lessons (We provide)
A Driver’s Ed course and DMV Approved Driving Instructor’s training course (We provide for free)
Live fingerprint scan which includes a background check
A DMV Approved minimal physician’s health report, forms supplied by the CA DMV
The live scan fingerprint, physician's health report and the Instructor’s License are out of pocket expenses, but will be reimbursed to the employee after the first 45 days of a 6 month probationary period once hired by E-Z Way. (Physician’s health report will be reimbursed up to $125 with receipt.)
An Instructors License (Occupational License) is needed for employment as a driving instructor with E-Z Way Driving School, so applicants must complete a state required DMV Instructor training program and PASS a CA DMV WRITTEN TEST. We provide a free online driver’s ed course as well as 20 hours of in-car training sessions with one of our instructors in order for you to meet the DMV requirements and to prepare you for transforming new drivers into safe drivers. After receiving your instructor’s license, a seasoned instructor will accompany you and assist you on lessons until you are comfortable going solo with students.
Once fully licensed, our driving instructors generally teach 3 to 4 students per working day, in a one-to-one, behind-the-wheel driver training session, lasting 2 hours per session, per student. Each of our students under the age of 18 must successfully complete three 2-hour sessions with an instructor in order to take their DMV driving test. Older students often like to take our driving lessons to improve their driving skills and help prepare them for their DMV Behind The Wheel Driving Test. The age range of our students is from 15-1/2 years of age to senior citizens.
