Job Summary
Under general direction of the Associate Superintendent of Operational Services, the Business Technician performs a variety of complex statistical and account record keeping functions in the maintenance of fiscal information. Performs accounting duties including but not limited to; accounts payable; accounts receivable; purchasing; miscellaneous functions of the business office; general office assistance; and related work as required.

1.
Processes purchase requisitions and invoices for payments, verifies account codes, validates expenditures and authorizes and issues purchase orders.
2.
Performs accounts receivable activities, including but not limited to, initiating invoices, follow-up collection notices, and applies proper account coding to monies received.
3.
Reconciles and maintains employee in-service payment and conference files (travel claims), verifies and audits expenses and mileage claims.
4.
Prepares and distributes hand warrants.
5.
Processes warrant cancellations.
6.
Audits accounts payable for validity and use tax compliance.
7.
Maintains purchasing and accounts payable information and records, including vendor master files.
8.
Provides guidance regarding laws, rules and regulations.
9.
Assists with production processes of weekly warrant runs.
10.
Processes and distributes accounts payable reports and warrants.
11.
Prepares and inputs journal entries and expenditure transfers.
12.
Audits, prepares and submits annual use tax report.
13.
Calculates, encodes, distributes charges and credits for accounts receivable.
14.
Maintains inventory records.
15.
Coordinates attendance for state reporting.
16.
Prepares bank deposits.
17.
Completes specialized and cash reconciliation reports.
18.
Coordinates information for reimbursable expense programs.
19.
Assists with external auditors to provide requested documentation and information.
20.
Performs courier duties.
21.
Assists with a variety of payroll and personnel related data when needed.
22.
Assists districts with training and specialized knowledge of assigned functions.
23.
Performs other duties as assigned consistent with the goals and objectives of this position.

Education and Experience: Any combination of training and experience, which would likely provide the required knowledge and abilities, may be qualifying. We reserve the right to determine if a candidate meets the qualifications.
High school graduate or equivalent.
Associate’s degree from an accredited college or university, preferably with coursework in related field.
Two (2) years of increasingly responsible work experience in financial and statistical record keeping, including experience in accounts payable and receivables record keeping.
Other Requirements: These requirements must be met prior to beginning employment and will be requested upon job offer acceptance.
