This role will draw upon the candidate’s expertise as a seasoned game designer, an authority on gaming trends, and a 20th Century fan to drive the creative development of our titles!What You Will DoThe Lead Game Designer will be the point person for leading both game design and narrative elements with partner developers, leveraging best-in-class examples to guide gameplay and narrative to ensure that each game is a compelling, appealing, and authentic 20th Century experience.Essential Duties and ResponsibilitiesGame & Narrative Design:

Provide feedback on game design documentation, gameplay concepts, features, and playable builds, while encouraging successful collaboration with partners and stakeholders.

Review and provide actionable recommendations on story arcs, beats, and scripts to ensure authenticity and quality in our games.

Proactively identify areas of risk affecting product quality, story, and player experience and provide actionable solutions.

Maintain familiarity with current game industry trends including popular gameplay features, genres, platforms, and commonly leveraged retention and monetization techniques.

Independently balance a workload of diverse projects in varying stages of development.

Brand & Franchise Guidance:

Collaborate with partners to create gameplay experiences that authentically represent our brands and engage gamers and fans alike.

Exemplify the role of a creative advocate between development teams, franchise partners, and executive stakeholders to deliver against collective product goals.

Team LeadershipMentor and provide game and narrative design guidance to internal team members; share best practices that foster inclusive creativity and elevate game design and storytelling in our products.

Find opportunities to improve processes and pipelines for yourself and other team members.

Required Qualifications & Skills

8+ years of experience in game design for mobile/console/PC/online.

Expertise in game design with proficiency across a broad design skills including system and narrative design.

Experience in assessing and editing design and narrative documentation including Game Design Documents (GDD), feature specs, narrative outlines, dialogue scripts, etc.

Experience in leading game design and narrative conversations and initiatives.

Experience in optimally collaborating and providing creative feedback to external teams, vendors, or agencies.

Outstanding time management skills with the ability to prioritize optimally in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.

A highly motivated, flexible, and solutions-oriented mentality.

Professional interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills.

Ability to travel and a valid passport.

A strong familiarity with (and fandom for) 20th Century Brands, including: Film Franchises like Alien, Predator, AVP and Planet of the Apes, 20th Television Live Action Properties & 20th TV Animation Properties (Family Guy, American Dad, King of the Hill, etc), Espn, National Geographic

Preferred Qualifications

You have shipped mobile, console, and/or PC games, some with live operations components, leading efforts on elements like Writing, System Design, Product Design (Monetization/Growth) and Accessibility Design

Education

Bachelors degree or proficiency demonstrated via an industry standard level of videogame design.

The base pay actually offered will take into account internal equity and also may vary depending on the candidate’s geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors.
