“What would you say you do here?”The Hair Global Development Group is responsible for Hair Template, Workflow and ToolOwnership across departments and shows. This group establishes consistency, efficiency,ownership, and support in the grooming and simulation process.

The goal of the Hair Global Developer internship will be to introduce candidates to the studio setting and involve them in development of tools for hair, fur and feathers across production on DreamWorks feature films.

The intern will work closely with the Hair Global Development Group to help become familiarized with hair, fur and feather workflows.

Reports to: Hair Global Development Supervisor

The intern will focus on the complete cycle of developing one or more tools.

With guidance from a mentor, the intern will write the tool(s), run tests in production shots, troubleshoot resulting issues, demo usage to artists, and write documentation.

The intern may participate in production shot work to familiarize themselves with Dreamworks’ hair, fur, feather tools and workflows.

“What do I need to have in order to do this job?”

Pursuing an Associate, Bachelor or Graduate degree at a College/University (or equivalent), or be a recent graduate (within six months of graduation date)

Experience with computer animation software such as Houdini and Maya

Experience with Python

Must be 18 years of age or older

For remote internship option, must have own equipment (computer, headphones, etc.) and stable high-speed internet connection

For hybrid internship option, must be willing to work in Glendale, California

Must be authorized to work in the United States without visa sponsorship

Must be willing to adhere to all Company COVID-19 workplace safety policies and protocols

“What can I offer?”

Experience working with a team to create computer animated shots for a project or short film

Knowledge of general grooming, simulation and deformer workflows

Familiarity with Maya API, Houdini HDK, and Houdini Digital Asset construction

Familiarity with C and Houdini VEX language
