EMERGENCY SERVICES SANITATION TECHNICIAN

Year-Round Role: Fire Season Tech

OVERVIEW

Service Connected is a site services company providing Temporary Fencing, Portable Toilets & Handwash Sinks and other Rental Equipment to government customers and public works projects (construction at universities, airports, etc.).

One of the primary divisions of the Company specializes in providing large amounts of Portable Toilets and Handwash Sinks to the US Forest Service and Cal Fire on an emergency basis during CA’s Fire Season (generally May/June – Nov/Dec). Each wildfire is known as an “Incident”.

We are hiring seasonal employees to work with us during Fire Season. Those individuals who do the best job on Incidents may be offered full-time, year round employment in the Fresno area

This job is demanding, even grueling at times, as you will be directly supporting fire fighters and first responders in their effort to battle and contain massive wildfires (some of these fires will grow to well over 100,000 acres). You will be responsible for ensuring these men and women have clean sanitation facilities, and by doing so directly contribute to saving homes, businesses, personal property and lives. Your efforts will save all manner of wildlife, national & state park greenspaces, and contribute to limiting the environmental damage caused by wildfires.

Compensation(example only, based on performance): $325+/day + Meals. After 30 days, those with satisfactory Evaluations will be raised to $350/day + Meals. After 60 days, those with satisfactory Evaluations will be raised to $400/day + Meals. Expect to work 10 – 15 hours per day.

Training: Company will provide 1-week of paid hands-on training to familiarize Employees with our vehicles and the daily maintenance needs, the vacuum pumps, all equipment and tools of the job, delivery and pick up procedures, Incident etiquette and protocols, all safety regulations and best practices, etc.

Job Duties: This job consists of (A) a great deal of long distance driving (all within the State of CA), (B) a lot of manual labor hours, (C) working in the early morning, (D) being away from home for 4 – 8 days at a time, (E) living in camping conditions for 4 – 8 days at a time, (F) operating a truck with a vacuum pump in order to pump out portable toilets, (G) being able to quickly restock a portable toilet with toilet paper, seat protectors and hand sanitizer, (H) being able to spray down and wipe clean a portable toilet, (I) working outdoors, (J) working as part of team but often doing your part independently or with 1 partner, (K) quickly becoming skilled at balancing speed and thoroughness).

The ideal candidate will have the following qualities, experience, attitude and skills:

· Takes pride in doing his/her work well and to the best of his/her ability

· Ability to drive a vehicle up to the size of a 26’ stake bed

· Ability to follow instructions to the letter

· Ability to learn new techniques quickly

· Is handy and/or mechanically minded

· Stamina to drive continuously for 6 - 8 hours

· Has a good sense of direction

· Ability to lift and/or slide 160 lbs. of equipment

· Enjoys camping and the outdoors

· Does not get frazzled under stress or pressure

· Can maintain a steady pace in order to work long hours without losing productivity

· Treats Company property like it is his/her own

· Is responsible and accountable

· Can work independently after mastering the basics, but not afraid to seek clarification if unsure or confused

· Communicates well, checks texts and missed calls often, and responds in a timely fashion

· Quickly adapts to a routine

· Gets faster and more efficient with just several weeks of experience

· Stays positive and sees the “glass half full, not half empty”

Pay: $325.00 - $400.00 per day

Are you available to be deployed on an active fire sight for 6 - 10 days at a time? (Outdoor camping with team, fire fighters, and other vendors)

Experience:

Commercial Driving: 2 years (Required)

License/Certification:

Tanker & Airbrake Endorsement (Preferred)
