Adopt International is looking for an emotionally intelligent Social Worker to support families in the process of adoption by conducting domestic and international home studies, providing education and resources as needed and conducting post placement and post adoption visits/reports in the Fresno area. Meetings with families are completed in person.

CONTRACTOR - SOCIAL WORKER ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES

Conduct domestic and international home studies for clients in the Fresno area. Assess, evaluate, educate and advocate for clients.

Provide post placement services for families as required by the child’s country, the United States, liaison agency or Adopt International.

Provide ongoing support and help to clients in all stages of the home study and post placement process. Refer clients and children to community resources as needed.

Prepare required reports for submission to foreign countries and/or agencies.

Schedule all appointments and submit final reports complete and in a timely manner.

Provide emergency counseling to families, as needed.

CONTRACTOR REQUIREMENTS

Master’s degree/MSW from an accredited program or equivalent in human services field. If no MSW, must receive a waiver from the State of California; or

Bachelor’s degree in Social Work from an accredited program and a waiver from the State of California and is supervised by an MSW or equivalent; or

Bachelor’s degree in any field and prior experience in family and children’s services or adoption and a waiver from the State of California and is supervised by an MSW or equivalent.

Minimum one year of experience in a public or private agency providing adoption services including home studies and post placement supervision to families.

Willing to submit to background checks

Working knowledge of social theories and practices

Social perceptiveness and empathy

Able to drive and provide current driver's license and proof of insurance

Must also meet CDSS regulations/meets INA/UAA requirements for home study preparer in 8 CFR 204.3(b)
