MUST HAVE EXPERIENCE

REPORTS TO: Quality Manager

No overtime unless there is a call out.

WORK SCHEDULE: Monday - Friday, Swing Shift from 1:00PM – 9:30PM (overtime is only when needed)

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND DUTIES:

Perform lab tests on raw ingredients, finished product, and other items as needed.

Document test results and take action as appropriate based on results.

Perform environmental testing (take swabs, air, and water samples).

Inspect incoming raw materials. Notify Quality Supervisor if anything is out of specification.

Prepare and submit samples for outside lab testing.

Perform quality checks and verifications on the plant floor.

Place non-conforming ingredients or product on hold. Recognize and take action when product does not meet quality or safety standards.

Perform glass/hard plastic inspections. Submit work orders as necessary.

Maintain lab equipment in clean, working order. Calibrate lab equipment. Troubleshoot lab equipment failure.

Enter data in spreadsheets. Create and update documents. Maintain orderly files.

Maintain clean, organized lab. Order lab supplies.

Promote GMPs, GLPs, and PPE among other employees.

Assist with plant trials, QC training, audit preparation, and other duties as assigned.

COMPETENCIES:

Ability to operate delicate lab equipment and perform tests accurately and precisely.

Basic knowledge of microbiology and food safety. Know and use GMPs, GLPs, and PPE.

Basic math skills; able to understand and calculate percentages, ratios, etc.

Able to comprehend written instructions and to follow verbal directions.

Completes duties with little to no supervision. Follows through on assignments.

Detail-oriented, accurate, and careful.

Communicates clearly, both written and verbally.

Team player who fosters cooperation with floor personnel.

JOB TITLE: Quality Technician I

WORK CONDITIONS:

Work is performed in the QC lab and on the plant floor. May be exposed to heat, cold, odors, loud noises, and chemicals. May be working on feet for extended periods of time. Occasional overtime may be required.

EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION:

REQUIRED:

High School Diploma

Ability to read, write, and speak in English

Computer skills (Word, Excel, Outlook)

Basic math skills

PREFERRED:

Bilingual (Spanish).

Previous food production, quality control, and/or lab experience

Microbiology, chemistry, or food science courses completed
