Job Title: GL AccountantJob DescriptionNationwide Recycling and Manufacturing organization is seeking to add a GL Accountant to will work alongside other key Accounting members to analyze financial information and prepare financial reports to determine or maintain a record of assets, liabilities, profit and loss, or other financial activities within an organization. The GL Accountant will also help maintain capital projects to ensure proper controls and capitalization of large capital projects.Responsibilities
Reconcile and analyze the Balance Sheet and Profit and Loss accounts.
Prepare, examine, or analyze accounting records, financial statements, or other financial reports to assess accuracy, completeness, and conformance to reporting and procedural standards.
Report to management regarding the finances of the establishment.
Establish tables of accounts and assign entries to proper accounts.
Prepare revenue and cost analysis, or other management reports.
Prepare periodic reports that compare budgeted costs to actual costs.
Prepare schedules and documents for external audits.
Prepare forms and manuals for accounting and bookkeeping personnel and direct their work activities.
Work with project managers to ensure proper accounting, controls, and capitalization of CIP.
Report any ideas for efficiency and continuous improvement to Supervisors.
Support the VP of Finance and other financial professionals in their duties as needed.
Essential Skills
Bachelor’s degree in accounting or other relevant field
1-3+ years of full cycle Accounting experience (month end, journal entry, reconciliation, general ledger)
Proficiency in Microsoft Office
Good verbal and communication skills
Attention to detail
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Ability to meet deadlines
Organized and able to handle and prioritize multiple initiatives at once
Professional and positive attitude
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Experience in the manufacturing industry
Knowledge of general ledger and inventory reconciliation
Proficiency in Excel, including pivot tables
Familiarity with month-end processes, journal entries, accounts payable, reporting, fixed assets, financial reporting, accruals, financial statements, Oracle, accounts receivable, balance sheets, variance analysis, bank reconciliation, and audit procedures
