ASRC Federal AFSS is seeking a talented
Database and Application Administrator to join our NASA Armstrong Flight Research Team at Edwards Air Force Base, CA.The Administrator is primarily responsible for administration of the SQL Server environment. Some application administration of COTS and custom developed applications specific to Armstrong Flight Research Center will be required as well.Responsibilities:- Provide expertise in SQL Server. This includes architecture, installation, administration, security, maintenance and monitoring.
- Support SQL Server and Windows Server patching activities
- Implement redundancy and resilience as defined by the customer requirements.
- Identify opportunities for cost savings and reduced complexity
- Collaborates cross functionally with system administrators, application administrators, and customers to ensure compliance with work instructions, quality process documents and security plans
- Associate's degree in technology related field and 2 years work experience
- Systems level thinking and understanding of the interactions between front-end, middleware and database tiers
- Understanding of windows server clustering technology
- Able to implement and support Always On Availability Groups
- Experience upgrading SQL Server versions and supporting OS version upgrades
- Strong written and verbal communications skills with an ability to communicate to various stakeholders
- Ability to multitask with strong time management and organization skills
- Strength working independently but also functioning as a member of the team
- Must be a US citizen
- Ability to obtain and maintain a government issued security clearance
- Experience with Oracle 12 and 19
- Experience cross training Oracle DBA in SQL Server
- Automating tasks with PowerShell
- Experience supporting front end applications as well as SQL Server
- Associate's degree in technology related field and 2 years work experience
