The attorney will provide business affairs and legal advice to the WW theatrical marketing team in all areas of marketing, publicity and promotion, intellectual property including chain of title and rights analysis, privacy and data management, social media, special events, product placement and co-promotions and global digital media. Responsibilities include drafting and negotiation of licenses, promotion agreements, vendor agreements, NDAs, influencer agreements, media buy agreements, agency agreements and other agreements as needed. In addition, the role will provide business affairs and legal advice for the Global Brand Strategy, Columbia Pictures Location Based Entertainment, and Sony Pictures Virtual Reality. The attorney role will have motion picture marketing responsibility for all aspects of theatrical marketing of assigned films from script to screen. Position Responsibilities:

Manage diverse marketing and promotion activity by the theatrical marketing group including oversight of complex promotion and publicity events, stunts, influencer engagements, original creative content creation, media integration for film content, management of privacy compliance across global websites, data collection and transfer, global agency of record media buying, and advising marketing clearance team on advertising content, including rights analysis.

Negotiate and draft vendor relationships with Master Service Agreements and related documentation.

Ownership of legal oversight for specific film title assignments beginning at green light through theatrical release, including promotion related product integration and release support, marketing content review, and clearance placement

Partner with other Sony Pictures business units including Sony Pictures Consumer Products, SPT, Sony Pictures Virtual Reality, Columbia Pictures Location Based Entertainment as well as other Sony Group companies

Requirements:

Relevant experience of at least 7 years at a respected law firm or an in-house studio environment advising and counseling companies in the below listed areas of law and providing practical legal risk assessment;

Experienced in advertising and marketing law, including FTC guidelines and regulations;

Experience with U.S. and Global privacy regulation and data compliance including GDPR and CA Consumer Privacy Act;

Experienced negotiating and drafting complex transactions, including vendor agreements.

Experienced in negotiating and drafting complex financing and distribution agreements (including back-end participations)

Skilled in sweepstakes/contests and other promotional activities;

Knowledgeable in film production and related entertainment matters;

Experienced in handling global Internet /Social Media advertising, legal regulatory and policy matters, including experience with the relevant governmental agencies and trade associations;

Knowledgeable in privacy and privacy related issues;

Knowledgeable in COPPA and CARU;

Familiar with FCC and mobile marketing issues;

Working knowledge of the Internet, telecommunications, mobile, and emerging technologies;

Experience with claims management including litigation support.

Experience with risk management and insurance applications.

Qualifications:

Skilled in complex negotiations and handling conflict resolution;

Team player with solid interpersonal management skills.

Ability to work with high pressure business units under time sensitive circumstances.

Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and make sound business and legal decisions under tight deadlines;

Ability to manage and prioritize multiple projects or project components with minimal supervision;

Sound business insight, excellent analytical problem-resolution skills;

Outstanding written and verbal communication skills, exceptional judgment;

Current active member of a state bar, preferably California;

International legal experience preferred;

Ability and desire to think strategically and outside the box in all areas of intellectual property rights and exploitation as may be aspects of studio business activity.
