Mercy San Juan Medical Center has received recognition for being a Comprehensive Stroke Center and Center of Excellence for Bariatric Surgery along with Certificates of Excellence in Perinatal Care Hip- and Knee- Replacement.ResponsibilitiesResponsibilitiesUnder the direction of the designated Manager or designee, the incumbent assists with the monitoring of the employees assigned to the above units to ensure a safe and secure environment for all who enter Mercy San Juan Medical Center. The incumbent also has initial responsibility for the smooth running of the various units in the best interest of patient care. Under general supervision, regularly performs a variety of supervisory and complex duties, as outlined below, involving review or processing which regularly requires the interpretation and application of specialize technical or program knowledge and exercises a high degree of independence, initiative and originality with little day-to-day supervision. May have access to or be required to distribute drugs, needles or syringes from storage locations, (such as large stock supplies, automated dispensing units and other carts) to/within patient care areas or treatment carts as defined by hospital policy/procedure.

Greet customers (vendors, patients, staff, volunteers, and physicians) in person and on the phone, providing information, taking messages, scheduling appointments and or referring to appropriate individual or department.

Receive and process complaints and feedback from patients, families, physicians and staff. Collaborates with management for resolution.

Research and assist in development of capital and operating budget.

Assist with and maintains oversight of charging process for Surgical Services.

Maintains administrative control of a variety of records and files, including confidential and legal documents related to employees, and patients.

Review, aggregate, and trend Unit specific data/suggest/develop and resolve problems.

Research reason(s) for unfavorable MVBR numbers, as requested by manager/designee.

Administrative support for the directors, manager, supervisors, and Clinical Educators as required: word processing, form development, spreadsheet preparation, filing, processing invoices/purchase requests, cost recovery billing, ordering supplies, copying, distributing, minutes, scheduling appointments, preparing memos and reports, correspondence, and revisions to policies and procedures.

Conduct Performance appraisals with unit assistants and surgery scheduling staff and provide input for performance appraisals on other unit staff. Maintain and monitor departmental staff schedules, processing/approving schedule changes; conducts investigatory meetings related to such schedules for corrective action.

Coordinate work orders for department renovations/improvements.

Monitor units for Joint Commission/regulatory compliance. Follow up with management to resolve issues.

QualificationsMinimum Requirements

Five (5) years experience in a health care setting required.

Strong database management experience.
