Description:Schedule: 1st shift. Sunday through Thursday from 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM Position Summary: Performs tasks associated with specimen management including receiving samples loading and unloading automation and storage. Essential Job Duties: bull Assists with loading and unloading of specimens on the Hamilton pipetting instruments including capping and uncapping samples labeling aliquot tubes pulling errors and sorting aliquots. bull Receive and sort clinical lab specimens. bull Sorts specimens into appropriate station for manual pipetting. bull Returns specimens to appropriate locations. bull Performs discard and relocation of specimen racks. bull Prepare specimens for testing and analysis. bull Scan and/or data entry of specimen and patient information. bull Ensure all lab equipment is working properly and perform minor instrumentation maintenance. bull Troubleshoot any specimen related issues. bull Replenish test bench supplies as needed. bull Maintain a clean and safe work environment. bull Adheres to the standard operating procedures and safety requirements of Esoterix CLIA CAP and other regulatory bodies. bull Documents all quality assurance activities as necessary including preventative maintenance logs instrument function checks troubleshooting and quality control to ensure regulatory compliance. bull Follows any other job-related instructions and performs any other job-related duties requested by department management. Required Education/Degree: High School Diploma or equivalent Required Certification/License: None Required Work Experience: No experience required. This is an entry level position. Preferred 6 months of previous lab assistant experience. Training occurs on-site. Physical Demands: Requires utilization of fingers and hands standing-remaining on ones feet in an upright position sitting-remaining in the normal seated position handling-seizing holding grasping lifting pushing pulling. Requires the ability to lift up to 30 lbs. Working Conditions: There is regular exposure to potential blood-borne pathogens. Lab Assistants will be working in high volume production-based environments performing a vital component of clinical lab science. Requirements: bull High school diploma or equivalent. bull Previous medical/lab or production experience is preferred. bull Comfortability with handling biological specimens. bull Ability to accurately identify specimens. bull Basic computer knowledge and data entry skills. bull High level of attention to detail with the ability to prioritize and multitask. bull Ability to work in a fast-paced production environment and meet established turn-around times. bull Strong communication skills: both written and verbal. bull Ability to sit and/or stand for extended periods of time. bull Must pass a standardized color blindness test. bull Flexibility to work overtime as needed.
