Position Overview: We are looking for a Lead Heavy Duty Fleet Mechanic to join our team in our Bakersfield, CA location. The Lead Heavy Duty Fleet Mechanic will perform skilled and semi-skilled work involved in the mechanical servicing, maintenance and repair of diesel truck vehicles and equipment, heavy construction equipment and other equipment; to maintain simple records related to shop operations; and to perform related duties and responsibilities as required.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

Conducts safety inspections on fleet heavy duty vehicles.

Properly manages workload to fleet needs

Diagnoses and repairs computer-controlled systems, electrical systems, brakes, steering, suspensions, drive train components, differentials, transfer cases, transmissions, gasoline- and diesel-powered engines, HVAC systems, hydraulic systems on fleet vehicles and equipment.

Inspects and replaces tires as needed.

Performs scheduled preventive maintenance of fleet equipment.

Follow a checklist of inspection procedures.

Test drive vehicles to diagnose malfunctions.

Test drive vehicle to ensure that they run smoothly.

Read and interpret diagnostic test results from diagnostic equipment such as a laptop with OEM software, which is used to measure the voltage produced by electronic components.

Adjust and align wheels, tighten bolts and screws and attach system components. Repair or replace malfunctioning components, parts and other mechanical or electrical systems, including vehicle wiring.

Perform field repairs of vehicles as necessary, including, during adverse weather / environmental conditions.

Orders and picks up parts and supplies necessary for assigned maintenance and repair work.

Interacts with vehicle / equipment operators to help determine service and repair needs.

Raise heavy parts or equipment by use of hoists, hydraulic jacks or overhead cranes.

Maintains garage, shop and equipment in a clean and orderly condition.

Performs all work in compliance with applicable laws and regulations, company’s policies and procedures, and standards of quality and safety.

Maintains accurate and complete work records.

Provide proper tools and equipment to complete daily work.

Trains new mechanics as assigned.

Be able to conduct and submit warranty repairs

Diagnoses and repairs computer-controlled systems, electrical systems, brakes, steering, suspensions, drive train components, differentials, transfer cases, transmissions, gasoline- and diesel-powered engines, HVAC systems, hydraulic systems on company’s vehicles, trucks and heavy equipment.

Provide proper tools and equipment to complete daily work.

Overhauls gasoline- and diesel-powered engines.

Performs and solves wiring issues for trucks and heavy-duty equipment.

Ability to follow specific directions to resolve customer issues

Regular, predictable attendance is required.

Ability to get along and work effectively with others.

Required Qualifications

Minimum 5 Years of experience.

Management experience preferred.

Computer skills experience.

Peterbilt & Kenworth experience preferred.

Experience with Cummins a plus but not required.

Knowledge of Pacar product experience preferred.

Bilingual in Spanish.

Possession of a valid California Class “A” commercial drives license is required.

Availability:

Schedule: Full-time Monday – Friday, 6:00am-3:30pm and every other Saturday.

Rate of Pay: 28.00-$40.00 per hour. DOE.
