Ability to work either 1st 2nd or 3rd shift! (the lab is open 24 hours)
Description:The main function of the lab assistant is to perform tasks associated with specimen management including receiving samples, loading and unloading automation, and storage.Responsibilities: Assists with loading and unloading of specimens on the Hamilton pipetting instruments including capping and uncapping samples, labeling aliquot tubes, pulling errors, and sorting aliquots. Receive and sort clinical lab specimens. Sorts specimens into appropriate station for manual pipetting. Returns specimens to appropriate locations. Performs discard and relocation of specimen racks. Prepare specimens for testing and analysis. Scan and/or data entry of specimen and patient information. Ensure all lab equipment is working properly and perform minor instrumentation maintenance. Troubleshoot any specimen related issues. Replenish test bench supplies as needed. Maintain a clean and safe work environment. Adheres to the standard operating procedures and safety requirements of Esoterix, CLIA, CAP and other regulatory bodies. Documents all quality assurance activities as necessary including preventative maintenance logs, instrument function checks, troubleshooting, and quality control to ensure regulatory compliance.
