General Atomics Aeronautical Systems, Inc. The position coordinates and/or performs complex system modifications due to a technical updates and/or a customer request, which require disassembly, modification, reassembly, and testing of mechanical and/or electrical system. This position may also perform complex structural, composite, avionic, and electrical repairs. Following technical documentation, monitors, tests and verifies quality of work, and complete required documentation and troubleshoot and resolves issues. Recommends technical procedures and design changes or alterations to aircraft, engines, systems, components and field or shop equipment. May provide direction and guidance to less experienced staff and may be assigned as department liaison and/or to customer contact as required.DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Coordinates, installs, modifies and tests aircraft structural, composite, avionics, and/or electrical systems to ensure they are operational and meet required quality standards.
Investigates and analyzes project requirements and operating problems and develops and recommends innovative solutions to meet performance standards and company governmental safety.
Performs a variety of aircraft complex repairs and rework on composite, metal or laminate assemblies, parts, components and/or structures utilizing inspection and rework instructions and
Performs a variety of maintenance and technical support on products such as equipment, integrated systems and subsystems, and software at customer and/or field locations.
Evaluates operating data on parts and components and systems to establish causes and determine remedies.
Troubleshoots, identifies, resolves and documents complex system issues including mechanical, engine, fuel or electrical. Designs new or recommends modified parts or components and recommend updates to technical procedures.
Performs various complex system modifications due to technical updates and/or customer requests including final operational testing and assurance to ensure they meet quality standards.
Completes all required documentation in accordance with established company procedures and/or government and customer technical order requirements.
May participate in the performance of airframe operational checks, installation of payloads and Acceptance Test Procedures (ATP) in accordance with company and customer guidelines.
May perform launch recovery tasks of aircraft to include ground operations preflight items, ground observer responsibilities and post flight items.
May represent the group and act as a liaison with customers and other departments and may develop and present training.
May provide direction and guidance to less experienced staff.

Typically requires an Associate's degree in a related field or military/trade school equivalence and eight or more years' of progressive experience in aircraft assembly and/or maintenance. Additional related technical experience may be substituted in lieu of the formal education.
The position requires comprehensive technical expertise and understanding of structural, composite, mechanical and electrical systems and associated regulations and related assembly/installation processes, tools, composites, templates, fixtures, testing and measuring devices as well as judgment to determine correct tool(s) and experience.
Reading, interpreting, and explaining blueprints, drawings, and maintenance manuals.
Installing, inspecting, modifying, adjusting and testing various mechanical assemblies and structures; and completing required technical documentation.
Strong communication, interpersonal, and computer skills are required to interface with supervisors, other staff and/or other departments.
Able to work independently and in a team environment, and able to work extended hours when required.
A composite trade school certificate, Federal Aviation Administration A&P license, and military aircraft maintenance and assembly training are desirable.
