Duties : The Nutrition Consultant for Food Service Management Companies (FSMC) – Arkansas Child Nutrition Unit (CNU) is seeking a team member with child nutrition program knowledge and will support school districts that decide to outsource with an FSMC. This position will work with Superintendents, Child Nutrition (CN) Directors, Business Managers, and all other applicable positions for all outsourcing districts. School districts will be put on a rotation to ensure an on-site review of each SFA contracting with an FSMC is completed within the contract period. This position will support the FSMC team as they receive new contracts and renewals submitted annually. They will support the Program Coordinator over FSMCs with required training and communication between the CNU and school districts. This position will also work to train Area Specialists annually to ensure compliance within the districts they are reviewing through an Administrative and Procurement review. The right candidate will seek a passion to educate CN Professionals through training modules online and in person to support professional development requirements. Federal programs administered by CNU are backed by the research conducted by the Institute of Medicine and current Dietary Guidelines for Americans. Essential Job Duties:

Monitor school district child nutrition programs through FSMC administrative reviews.

Monitor school district child nutrition programs through FSMC procurement reviews.

Provide technical assistance and associated corrective action to school districts.

Serve as a resource to child nutrition professionals.

Write commissioner’s memos as assigned.

Provide training as assigned, including but not limited to Culinary Directors Part 1 and 2, recertification, conference, digital learning, and FSMC training.

Complete office duties as assigned.

Assist with collecting documentation and approval of the FSMC contract and renewal agreements.

Special projects as assigned i.e., KPI project, Wellness, Equipment Grant, Supply Chain Assistance Funds.

Represent child nutrition unit with Arkansas child nutrition partner groups.

This position is governed by state and federal laws and agency/institution policy.FunctionsDevelops or modifies nutrition program menus, policies, and procedures by researching demographic and other statistical data of clients, evaluating current quality of services provided, researching related literature, and coordinating with other health organizations. Advises service providers of client nutrition requirements, policy and procedures of programs, and special nutrition needs to ensure program compliance. Assists in development of overall annual program goals and objectives for providing nutrition and health services to clients. Evaluates program effectiveness by conducting site visits and reviewing reports and other data submitted by agency or institution providers to ensure compliance with federal and state program rules and regulations. Prepares reports evaluating overall effectiveness of a nutritional program and recommends methods of improvement. Develops nutritional training programs by assessing needs of service providers and conducting technical research, preparing training aids and nutritional resource materials for use by service providers, and presenting training programs to staff members and/or service providers. May supervise a small professional staff by interviewing, recommending for hire, assigning and reviewing work, and evaluating the performance of incumbents. Ability to develop and modify nutrition program policies and procedures.Minimum QualificationsLicensed as a dietician by the Arkansas Dietetics Licensing Board in accordance with ACA 17-83-301, and a bachelor's degree in nutrition science or a related field; plus four years of work-related experience. Additional requirements determined by the agency for recruiting purposes require review and approval by the Office of Personnel Management.
