Position Summary:As a Fiber and Data Line Technician, this position will be responsible for the installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of fiber optic and data communication systems. The primary focus will be ensuring the efficient and reliable operation of these systems, supporting the seamless flow of data within and between various networks. This position will also be a backup for other functions within the departmentDuties & Responsibilities:Installation and Deployment:
Install and terminate fiber optic cables, ensuring proper c onnection and adherence to industry standards
Install and terminate data cables, ensuring proper connection a nd adherence to industry standards
Collaborate with other teams to design and implement fiber a nd data line infrastructure based on project requirements
Maintenance and Repairs:
Conduct routine inspections to identify and address potential i ssues before they impact system performance
Diagnose and troubleshoot network problems, both remotely a nd on-site
Perform repairs and replacements of faulty or damaged c omponents promptly
Testing and Documentation:
Conduct thorough testing and quality assurance procedures t o validate the functionality of installed systems
Document all installations, configurations, and maintenance a ctivities accurately
Maintain records of network performance, equipment i nventory, and troubleshooting procedures
Collaboration and Communication:
Collaborate with other technicians, engineers, and relevant s takeholders to ensure effective communication and c oordination
Provide technical support and training to end- users as n eeded
Communicate project progress, issues, and resolutions to the s upervisor and project teams
Compliance and Safety:
Adhere to industry standards, regulations, and safety protocols d uring all activities
Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations r elated to fiber optic and data communication installations
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities: Strong knowledge of general networking and best practices Strong technical aptitude and ability to research & solve complex issues independently Willingness and ability to learn new skills and apply them as needed Ability to effectively communicate issues and resolutions to all levels of the organization Ability to maintain confidentiality with sensitive customer and internal information Willingness and ability to work from ladders and scaffolding, including heights up to 20’, indoors and outdoors Ability to carry equipment up to 50 lbsGeneral Days/Hours: Monday - Friday8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.Additional hours as requested and/or neededRegular and reliable attendanceOther:Please note: all position postings close at 12:00 A.M.
