The Student Advisor is responsible for developing and implementing a comprehensive school advising plan that supports students' academic achievement, career planning, and social-emotional development. The advisor will spend at least 90% of their time on direct and indirect services to students and no more than 10% on administrative duties.Key Responsibilities Comprehensive Program ImplementationDesign, implement, and maintain a comprehensive K-12 advising plan based on state and national frameworks.Align the program to district goals and the needs of students as identified through data analysis.Collaborate with school leadership and stakeholders to annually review and update the plan.Direct Student Services (Face-to-Face)Deliver classroom guidance (up to 40 minutes per session; no more than 3 per day or 10 per week).Conduct individual and group sessions to address academic, career, and emotional needs.Provide responsive services to students in crisis, including risk assessments and intervention with students exhibiting dangerous or at-risk behaviors (e.g., substance abuse, self-harm).Guide students K-8 in course selection, goal setting, and progress monitoring.Indirect Student Services (Consultation & Collaboration)Consult with parents, teachers, administrators, and community resources to support student achievement and well-being and enhance student outcomes.Build partnerships with parents/guardians and community organizations to expand student resources.Coordinate referrals to external agencies for additional support services when necessary.Advocate for students' needs and work to remove barriers to learning.Social-Emotional Learning and SafetyFacilitate programming to build cultural awareness, communication skills, and positive decision-making, such as positive behavioral interventions and support (PBIS), school and community celebrations, etc.Implement bullying prevention, suicide awareness, and conflict resolution programs.Support school climate efforts to ensure all students feel safe and supported.Administrative ResponsibilitiesConduct multilevel school data reviews to guide interventions and continuously improve programs; this includes reviewing use-of-time, program outcomes, and stakeholder feedback.Participate in test coordination, scheduling, and compliance-related meetings as needed.Monitor students in common areas (cafeteria, hallway, etc.) in collaboration with other staff.Engage in data entry and academic or behavioral support program coordination duties.Professional Development and Compliance Complete state-mandated youth mental health training every four (4) years, as the State Board of Education requires.Ensure all actions are aligned with A.C.A. § 6-18-2001 through § 6-18-2005.Support the district in meeting accreditation standards and state monitoring protocols.Other Responsibilities (As Needed)Supporting student recruitment, enrollment, and retention activities.Write letters of recommendation for students.Additional tasks as requested to support student achievement, school culture, and team collaboration.
